Throughout my high school career I havent taken advantage of many of the activities
that Merced High School had to offer. That is until I started my senior year, I chose to take
Photography Two as one of my electives and it was the best thing that I could have done. The
thing that I am most proud of in that classroom is a picture that I took of my nephew. I received a
Thomas Ticket for the picture I presented. A Thomas Ticket isnt some shinny blue ribbon its
more like a piece of paper that has a picture of film on it, if you receive a Thomas Ticket you can
have extra credit or you can collect enough to get Mrs. Thomas to buy you a print out, but most
of all its a stamp of approval.
During my second semester of Photography 2 I mainly focused on film photography. One
of the projects we had consisted of taking a picture of a shadow sometime in the evening. The
picture I presented was one of my nephew who was standing in the backyard, staring off into the
distance. From the first time Ms. Thomas saw the picture she said that she liked it. She also said
it gave off an eerie vibe and that it was eye catching. Then when the time came for the group I
was in to decide whose picture was the best for the week I was surprised when they chose mine.
When my peers chose my photo I was very surprised and proud. Having a teacher tell
you that you did a good job is one thing, but having your fellow classmates tell you that you did
well is something entirely different. Earning that Tomas Ticket was something that I tried to
accomplish since the beginning of the year, and now that I have one I know my hard work has

paid off. This just goes to show that if you work hard and never give up then you will always
reach your goal.
