a pediatrician typically involves at least seven years of graduate-level schooling, including medical school
and a residency. | Epidemiologists are scientists who study the spread of infectious diseases with the goals
of containing the current outbreak and preventing future recurrences. Because public health departments
often employ them, applied epidemiologists frequently interact with the public to monitor and collect
disease-related data, assist with programs designed to control or prevent disease and advise on public
health policies.

Education Requirements (Majors, Degrees): PEDS- Medical Degree (M.D.) | EPI- Masters Degree
in Public Health (M.P.H.)
Additional Special Licenses, Certifications, Training, Association Memberships, Patents,
Published Work, Internships / Apprenticeships, Experiences: PEDS- Physician licensure and
residency program in pediatrics; pediatric board certification is common. Certification from the American
Board of Pediatricians | EPI- Certification for infection control. CDC training.
