Entry 1: Technology to Support Communication

To school administrators, this blog will be discussing how technology communication
can be used with parents, students, teachers and the global community. Within the classroom,
these forms of communication are very important for students as they can use apply what they
have learned out in the real world.
Introduction
The plan is to integrate technology into the classroom to use it for student learning. This
technology plan will include participation from all community and school members, which
includes stakeholders to collaborate with educators to make sure that the tools that are used, and
the work that is given by the educator is done right and meets the requirements of the state and
its members. Integrating technology to enhance communication in the classroom will help
introduce students to technology. To enhance their cognitive development students will be using
technology such as the web, blogs, instant messaging, podcast, and video-cast. When using these
technical tools they will get a better understanding how to communicate with one another and
how the latest software tools help with academics. To Converse back and forth with one another
is a student's cognitive goal, and thinking and conversing with others across the world in other
classes, as well as within our their own community (Pineteh, 2012). Communication and Internet
safety will keep students safe from cyber bullying, predators, and from getting their information

taken. Internet sites such as ikeepsafe.org. will help students understand how easy it is to be
portrayed as someone else. Awareness is also a key factor in communication and Internet safety
in the classroom. Teachers have to be actively involved and monitoring computers to make sure
students stay on track (Panter, 2009). Another big part of Internet safety is parent involvement
and making sure that parents and students have access to safety information. Such channels on
Youtube.com like Playing and Staying Safe Online and making sure that software, such as
McAfee Live Safe is bought and installed in class so that all computers will be protected. The
latest technology in virtual academics should be thoroughly integrated into the classroom
because it enhances student learning, in which the students will be working beside one another
conversing on decision making (Mackay, 2015).
Technology to Enhance Communication
E-mail can be used to communicate between parent and teacher. This way of
communication will directly link the teacher and the parent to constant communication through
the Internet by communicating through E-mail. This can help parents when they have to address
a situation privately or have just a general question about homework that a student may have or
any upcoming events. E-mail can be used to help students communicate with the teachers on a
certain assignment that is done, or for a general question about class. Communicating with the
global community by E-mail is an efficient way to keep stakeholders and committee members
involved on what technology and work are being done within the classroom and what they can
do or suggest.
By creating a class website parents navigate through a virtual world online to hear what
their students are learning and what special events are coming up. Parents can also go to the class

4
website to try and find ways to help their students with upcoming work. The classroom website
can be used by the student to access the course syllabus and see what homework will be coming
up next. Students will be able to access information on an important topic that is listed on the
website and keep up with any current events that are coming up. With access to the class website,
the global community will also be able to look at all the teachers information and see what they
can contribute or volunteer with. The global community will see what important materials are
being used in class that keeps them involved and informed.
Students will be able to use blogs to submit their thoughts and assignments to reinforce
what they have learned to the global community. Students will be able to receive feedback from
parents, the community, and the teacher on the work they have submitted. Parents will be able to
see what their student is learning about at the current moment, which also gives them the
opportunity to comment on the students work. The global community and any interested reader
will be able to leave positive comments on student writing, which will help the student
understand how important their work is to others out in the world (Cassidy, 2008).
The software known as Skype allows a student to communicate with another student, or
teacher at any given moment. This form of communication is through video-chat, which gives
students the ability to communicate back and forth about class work or for informational
purposes. Parents will be able to communicate with their students through Skype to see if their
students need help, and the students will be able to communicate with others outside of the
classroom via video. This will help get information asked by the teacher who will be able to
reach out to others in the community for support or collaboration on the topic at hand. The social
media and web technology have adapted the way that educators teach and also changes how
students learn, and this also changed the ways that students and teachers communicate together.

5
Communication Internet Security and Safety
Communication Internet security and safety can be introduced and honestly talked about
to students by letting them know and be aware of what pros and cons can come with being
connected to the web. The precaution measures of Internet security and safety can be discussed
with other staff by discussing what software is being used. A firewall protection will be set up,
which will help keep student information from being out in the cyber world. Parents are an
important part of student awareness involving internet safety and security by letting the parent
know what sites they can go to with their students to learn about internet safety. Parents can be
sent home with information by the teacher to how to keep students safe in and outside of the
school (Guter, & Guter 2015).
Conclusion
Technology to support communication is a very important part of student, parent, teacher
and the global community by students being involved in a technology savvy classroom. They
will have the technical skills to apply what they have learned out in the real world. Students
using technology is important for their cognitive perception of the world around us, and their
cognitive development. As technology advances, children must be kept up to date current tools
and trends., and if students don't' keep up they won't be able to apply themselves out in the real
world.
