PROCEDURE

Entering Room

Do Now

SPECIFIC STEPS
Everyday Ms. Boyle will greet you at
the door and tell you what number
seat to sit at. You will silently place
your homework in the correct tray,
go to your assigned seat and begin
working on the Do Now.
No one leaves until everyone is
sitting silently. Stay seated until Ms.
Boyle tells you to leave. The bell
does not dismiss anyone.
Read the instructions on the boardcollect the handout or write on looseleaf paper. Begin as soon as you are
seated. Follow the directions in
silence unless stated otherwise. If

RATIONALE

you finish early, read silently at your

desk until class begins.
Homework

Attendance

Tardy

Bathroom and
Drinking
Fountain

Expect to have homework every

night. Failure to complete every part
of the assignment will result in a
LaSalle. No exceptions. Assignments
will be turned into the homework tray
for your period at the beginning of
each class period.
Takes place at the door when greeted
by Ms. Boyle.

Enter room silently and do not

disturb anything. Take out your work
as quickly and quietly as possible.
You will receive the appropriate
amount of demerits based on how
many minutes late you are to class.

You may not go to bathroom during

the first or last 5 minutes of class or
during note taking sessions. You
may go to the bathroom during
passing periods, at the beginning or
ending of the day or when you raise
your hand and ask for a dean escort.
You must be back in your seat 3
minutes after you leave the
classroom.
If you have a medical reason why
you must go to the bathroom more
often, you must submit a doctors
note to Administration.

Trash

Paper

If you must throw something away,

do not get out of your desk. Keep
trash in a pile on the corner of your
desk and wait until instructions/notes
are done to throw it away.
Every paper that you turn in must
have your first and last name,
assignment, and date clearly

Headings

Asking
Questions

Test Taking

marked on the first piece of paper.

Failure to do so will result in points
lost on the assignment. All multipage documents must be stapled. No
exceptions.
To ask a question, raise your hand
and wait to be called on unless
otherwise instructed.
Place all materials out of everyones
sight under your desk except for a
single pencil (and calculator if
needed). Absolutely no talking or
wandering eyes during the exam,
cheating will result in a 0.

Absences

If you know you will be absent for a

legitimate reason, you must have an
official note. You will still be
responsible for all material covered
and work missed. When you return,
please look in your class binder for
any handouts, homework, in-class
assignments etc. You are responsible
for finding notes for the class. You
have one day for every day missed
to complete your work. All work to
be turned in must be submitted to
the Late Work tray.

Teachers
space and
property

Respect the teachers desk and all

supplies within the room. Do not
remove any supplies from the room
unless you receive permission.

Group Work

Electronic
Devices

Students will be given roles in each

group (leader, recorder, presenter,
time keeper/equipment manager)
and must participate in the activity.
The voice level during all group work
is a 2.
Do not, any under circumstance,
think it will be appropriate to answer
a phone/text message while you are
in my class. This is disrespectful to
yourself, your peers, your future, and

me. If I find or hear something

electronic I will confiscate it and you
will earn 4D.

Call to
Attention

Participation
Points

Exit Slips

One way Ms. Boyle will call attention

is by raising her hand in the air. Once
students see her hand in the air,
everyone else will do the same,
which signals it is time for the class
to be quiet. Students who are not
quiet at that time, will receive
demerits.
Every day that students attend class,
they can earn up to 10 participation
points. Students can earn these
points by coming to class, bringing
all materials, and participating in
class. If a student is absent, they will
lose participation points for the day
they missed.
Students will complete some form of
an exit slip every day. Slips will be
turned in to the proper tray at the
end of class. Failure to complete an
exit slip will result in losing points for
the day.

I am confident that each and every one of you will be able to follow the classroom rules.
However, those who are not able to follow the rules properly will receive demerits depending on
their offense.
Each classroom rule that is violated is worthy of up to a minimum of one demerit;
however, Ms. Boyle has the final decision in deciding whether a particular offense is worth more
than one demerit.
