Anticipatory Set:

I will walk into the room carrying a big


box with a red light on the front. The
students will be so curious to what is
inside the box that they will be ecstatic
for learning. The students will also be
curious to why there is a red light on the
front of the box and will want to learn
about it. Inside the box will be the
inventions of Garrett Morgan (or the idea
of them), to get the students excited
about learning. At the end of the lesson
the students will make stoplight cookies
and eat them!

the box and will talk about each of them.
We will also explore a website called
pebblego.com and will be talking and
showing pictures of Garrett Morgan and
his inventions. This is where the students
will be learning the most about the
inventor. I will then go through adjectives
for Garrett Morgan with the class.
