Annotated bibliography: Abortion

Chipping away abortion rights February 9, 2011. Abortion-rights supporters breathed a sigh of
relief last week when a troubling word was removed from a controversial antiabortion bill.
They shouldn't have. This piece of congressional legislation and a related bill are still loaded
with harmful provisions that would turn back the clock on women's rights to make their own
medical decisions. FOR THE RECORD: Abortion: A Feb. 9 editorial about a proposed
antiabortion bill in Congress said that some Roman Catholic hospitals object to abortion

This article shows the different percentages of women who have abortions. For instance 18% of
U.S. women obtaining abortions are teenagers. Those ged from 15-17 obtain 6% of all
abortions, 18-19 year olds obtain 11% and teens younger than 15 obtain 0.4%.Women in
their early 20s account for more than half of all abortions. Women fro 20-24 obtain 33% of
all abortions. 27% of women obtaining abortions have incomes between 100-199% of federal
poverty level. In 2011-2012, the average amount paid for a non-hospital abortion with local
anesthesia at 10 weeks gestation was $480. The average amount paid for an early medication
abortion before 10 weeks was $504. I feel like this is very informational to young teens,
because it shows what age groups are most likely to have an abortion.

Knapp, Lynette. The Abortion Controversy. San Diego: Greenhaven, 2001 Print. This book is
talking about the controversy if abortion is immoral or not and other subjects of abortion. It
talks about how the rights against abortion is protected. They argue about if the fetus should
be used for medical research. Abortion clinics are always targeted by protesters. Women
should also not have any access to abortions. The intended audience for this book is for
women who have had an abortion or is thinking about having a abortion. My reaction to this
book is I think is it very informative and can change womens minds about having a abortion,
it shows both sides of the subject.

Mar. 2015. This is about a girl who was 16 and got pregnant. She was dating a black guy and
her parents found out and he was about to go to college, so she got rid of the baby. In my
opinion if you are old enough to lay down and have sex, you are old enough to take care of a
baby. You have to learn to take responsibility for your actions and not just take the easy way
out. I feel like this shows certain events that have lead to abortions.

This article is discussing just facts about information about abortions. In 1965, 265 deaths
occurred due to illegal abortions. Of all pregnancy-related complications in New York and
California, 20% were due to abortions. From 1900 until the 1960s, abortions were prohibited
by law. However, the Kinsey report noted that premarital pregnancies were electively
aborted, and public and physician opinion began to be shaped by the alarming reports of
increased numbers of unsafe illegal abortions. I feel like these facts about the history are
important to who ever reads this. That way they know how it started and know the history is
abortions.

Wendy Lanier. Hot Topics Detroit: Lucent Books, 2009. p48-60. COPYRIGHT 2009 Gale,
Cengage Learning. This ebook describes all the questions about abortion. Like does abortion
have long term effects on your body. The answer to this is it depends on the procedure.
Sometimes you can bleed to death due to it. Or it can be linked to breast cancer. Or you can
just have long term health issues.By the 1820s anti-abortion law began to appear in various
states. In the late 1800s the trend toward making abortion illegal continued to gain
momentum, and by 1900 abortion at any stage of pregnancy was illegal in most states,
although some did allow the practice under limited circumstances.
