1. Rationale: Why is this lesson relevant at this time with these students?
Addition and subtraction come into your daily life whether it be related to money or even baking for two
simple examples! It is also a very foundational math skills that will be important for many further
grades when learning other concepts in math. This lesson shows students more ways to represent the
basic concept of addition.
