Integrating Tech into Curriculum 02W Instructor:

Petra Strassberg Discussions.

Week 2 & 3: Why Ed Tech? Disscussion
"Why Plagiarism is not in students best Interest."
My Response: Plagiarism is a bad thing for students to accomplish for various reasons.
Plagiarism is not in a students best interest because it is just plain wrong. Students should be
creative and original and by plagiarism they cannot achieve that goal. Plagiarism is just an easy
way to go. Copy and paste has made it so easy for a student to plagiarize. It also can be counted
as cheating and when students cheat they do not learn. Students should use their original work
and as a teacher my class will know that original and being creative and expanding the mind is
the best way to go.

Week 5 & 6: 21st Cen Tchng Discussions

Copyright and Fair Use
My Response:
Copyright and fair use impacts education by helping learning. There are many ideas out there to
teach students and if a teacher would like to use another teachers work they may if they have
permission. In my opinion anything on the internet is fair game unless stated otherwise. You
must credit the creator. I think copyright and fair use greatly impacts education but you have to
be careful because if objects are copyrighted you have to gain permission to use the work. It is a
hit or miss.

RE: Discussion
I agree that original thought is good for the minds of students and teachers, but also if say an
assignment can be used by a teacher that has showed great stats with the students it is also
helpful to use the assignment of course if the teacher get permission before using.

RE: Response to "The Impact of Copyright and Fair Use on Education"
I agree that the fair use act allows educators to use various amounts of resources to help students
become the best they can and to help students understand the objective the best they can. I think
the best way to use resources from another creator is to put your own originality into the
resource. As a teacher it allows your teaching style to still be a part of the source.

Week 10 & 11: Hypermedia Tools Discussions

Learning Styles
My Response: There are seven main learning styles that are used in education. They are visual,
aural (auditory), verbal, physical, logical, social, solitary. All these learning styles work together
to complete varies tasks over a students education and in general. The most effective learning
style is visual. By visualizing an objective it will help you remember more easily. In today
education there are many teachers that uses media to teach their students. Media can also include
audio many other learning styles. Using videos as a teaching technique is a common way for
students to understand the objective more clearly. For example a reading class is studying a
certain book. After they have gone over the book the watch a movie based on that book. This is
using visual, audio, verbal learning styles. After watching the movie students can recall a scene
or an important event that happened better than just reading a book itself. By using all these
learning styles in education students are more productive and hopefully understand the meaning
of the objective.

RE: Learning Styles
I agree with you that students should have more of a choice in their preferred learning style but
also students needs to know other ways to learn so the expand their minds and greatest potential.

Week 12 & 13: Teaching Online Discussions

Can Students learn as well online as face-to-face?
My Response: Face to face vs. Online
Online classes have become the new classroom. In my opinion I rather have a face-to-face class.
As a students I get more out of the face to face teaching and it is a better way of learning and
hands on experience. You can not exactly get the hands on experience that helps you understand
the subject matter better. With that said online classes are not that evil. If the students are
motivated they can achieve learning online. Online learning is becoming more common than
ever but many of my online classes include just reading the chapter and taking quizzes upon
what you read. Some people do learn best by reading but my opinion is hands on
experience though a class face to face with a teacher.
