How to make a bootable flash disk and to flash BIOS

REQUIREMENTS:
USB flash*1 (Please format the USB flash to FAT)
PC/NB *1 (Please make sure network connection is avialable)

Procedures:

1. Please download the bootable USB tool from following link


http://download.msi.com/nb_drivers/ap/unetbootin.zip

2.

Select Save.

3. Please unzip the download file on desktop after press the [Save] button.

4. Use [ unetbootin-win-549.exe ] to open the tool. Then, select [Diskimage], [Floppy]


and [Browse].

5. Select fdboot and press open.

6. Please make sure the drive option is our USB flash. If its correct, please press
[OK].

7. Press [Exit] to leave the tool. Now, we have our own bootable USB.

8. Open browser page. Then, you can connect to MSI official website and download
the BIOS.

How to flash MSI Notebook BIOS under DOS mode


1. Extract the zip file which is containing the BIOS files and flash utility. Copy files to a
bootable USB flash drive (Pen drive).

2. Insert the USB flash drive (Pen drive) to the USB port.
3. Boot up the notebook and press F11 key to start the Boot menu. Then, please select USB flash
disk drive.
Note 1: Some platform have to enter to BIOS and change the boot priority.
Note 2: Please make sure the AC power is plug-in.

4. Press Enter key and then to select FreeDOS Safe Mode (dont load any drivers).

5. Please access the correct drive. Here is an example. Type c: at DOS prompt A:\>, you
should be able to see the files that you saved. Execute the batch file FLASH.BAT.

6. Wait for a couple of seconds to complete the BIOS update procedure.


* DO NOT power off the notebook while this BIOS is updating

7. Power off the notebook after the BIOS update procedure is completed
8. Remove battery pack and AC adapter.

9. Waiting for 15 seconds. Then, plug in battery or AC adapter.


10. Power on notebook and press <F1> key to enter the BIOS setup menu
Note: This is only applicable for some models. For others, you will not be prompted with
the message below; you can directly press DEL and load Set-up Default (see Step 4)

11. Select [Load Setup Defaults] and press <Enter> key to load BIOS default settings.
12. Select [Exit &Save Changes] and press <Enter> key to save changes and exit.
