(touching).IamanauditorylearnerandIlovelisteningtolectures.
Therearetwomainareasofthebrainthatdealhelpmewithmylearningstyle,theParietallobe
andtheTemporallobe
.TheParietallobeinterpretslanguageandwordsandisakeywhenit
comestointerpretingsignalssuchasvision,hearing,motor,sensory,andmemory.The
Temporallobehelpsusunderstandlanguage,memory,hearing,sequencingandorganization.
Thebrainessentiallylearnsinasetofsteps.Motivation,practice,intensivepractice,
skill,andrefinement.Neuronsarethecellsthatlivewithinyourbrain,weconsistofbillionsof
neuronsinourbodiesalone.Dendritesarefibersthatgrowoutofourneuronswhenyoudobrain
functiontaskssuchastalking,listening,writing,orwhenyouretainnewinformation.Dendrites
growbasedonsimilardendritesthathavethesameinformation.Asyoulearnnewinformation,
specificdendritesgrowanddevelop.Learningisveryimportanttothegrowthofdendrites,new
dendritestakelongertogrowandrequiremoreattention.Specificdendritesconnecttosimilar
dendritesandgrowtoconnectatsynapsestocreatealargenetwork.

Career
ThecareerIwanttopursueistobecomeaERPhysician.ERPhysiciansareinconstant
needanditwillbehardtooutsourcethem.ThemainjobofanERPhysicianistoassessthe

situationthepatientisin,providexraysandmedicatethepatient,andthensendthemofftoa
specialist.ThemainskillsrequiredbyERPhysiciansaretheabilitytohandlemassiveamounts
ofpressureandstrongcommunicationskills.ERPhysiciansaremostlyontheirfeetandwork
oddishhours,theyneedtobeconstantlyalertandalwaysawareofthesituation.Becomingan
ERPhysicianisnotaneasyorquicktask.Iwouldfirsthavetogetabachelorsandtakeallthe
premadecourses(Biology,OrganicChemistry,HumanPhysiology).Aftercompletingmy
collegecourses,IwillhavetotaketheMCATtogetacceptedintomedicalschoolforfouryears.
Iwouldlastproceedtogettingmymedicallicenceanddoingmythreeyearsofresidency.Iwill
beattendingschoolforavery,verylongtimeonmypursuittobecomingaERPhysician.The
amountofworkgiveninmedicalkindbecomeveryoverwhelmingandsleepdeprivationisa
leadingculpritoftroubleinmedicalschool.Ineedtrainmyselftopacemystudyingand
homeworksothatIdonotstressmyselftomybreakingpoint.Iplanonfindingamentorformy
schoolingsothatIcanlookuptosomeoneandgetadviceonsucceedingschool.
Majors
IplanonmajoringinBiologysoIcanskiponeofmypremedclasses,tolearnallabout
howlifeworks,andtoenlightenmeabouttheworldofvirusesanddiseases.Iwanttolearn
aboutlifebecauseIhavealwaysbeeninterestedinhoweverythingworkstogether.LastlyI
reallywanttolearnaboutvirusesanddiseases.Apartfromfascinatingme,knowingaboutthese
infectiveagentscanbeverybeneficialtomeasadoctor.Premedicalclassesconsistofayearor
Biology,Physics,English,andtwoyearsofChemistry.OnecommonthingIhavenoticedisthat
allreviewsofthecoursepointtolargeamountsofdifficultworkandtoabandonoursociallives.
Premedicalisdesignedtofilteroutstudentsuntilonlythededicatedremainstanding.

PremedicalalsopreparesyoufortheMCATandmedicalschool.Medicalschoolscanonly
acceptacertainamountofstudentsayearanditdependsonyourMCATscore.

Colleges
UniversityofMissouriKansasCity
UMKCistheperfectcollegeformesimplybecauseoftheirmedicalprogram.There
medicalprogramissofascinatingbecauseitallowscollegefreshmentostartthelongand
difficultmedicalschoolprocess.Theprogramisacceleratedandallowsstudentstochoosean
undergraduatemajorandearnaB.AandM.Dinsixyears.Theprogramalsodoesnotrequireme
totaketheMCATandIbeginworkingtowardsmyM.Dstraightaway.TheMCATisavery
importantanddifficulttestanditmakesgettingintomedicalschoolverycompetitive.The
formatofthemedicalschoolprogramisalsoverysimilartowhatwedoinHighTechHigh.You
areassignedtoagroupofothermedicalstudentsandyouworktogetheronprojectsandlearning
thefundamentalsofmedicine.Ihavebeenworkingataprojectbasedschoolforthemajorityof
myschooling,Ishouldbeabletofitrightinperfectlyandthrivecomparedtostudentsthat
haventhadasmuchexperienceasIhave.ThethingIammosthappyaboutisthatIwillbe
reducingthetimeIhavetostayincollegebytwoyears.Ithoughtmedicalschoolwouldeatup
somuchofmylife,butcuttingofftwoyearsmakesmefeelreallygood.
Conclusion
BeforemyIresearchedthecollegeprocessandbrainfunctions,Iknewverylittle.Idid
notknowthewhatcollegeIwantedtoattend,andwhyIwantedtoattendthatspecificcollege.
AlltheinformationIlearnedaboutbrainsandhowtheyfunctioniscompletelynewtome.Iam

confidentIknowalotmoreaboutthecollegelifeandIcanhopefulusethistogetintoacollege
ofmychoiceandobtainmydesiredcareer.
