Purpose and relationship to topic
Resolution
Deeply Concerned about the long-term effects of redlining that are present today,
Realizing that even today communities can't get money to enhance their communities with
essential needs, (it may not be with homes like before but perhaps other needs)
Encouraging people to form groups or join already existing organizations to fight for what
we believe we need in our communities,
Affirming that money should be given back to communities, for example to build parks,
schools, gardens etc.,
Taking into account there are groups like the Citizens Action group that are demanding
community reinvestment, one of those groups being LVEJO,
Actions
1.) Notes with approval, LVEJO fought for several years to get a new park and garden built in
our community;
2.) Expresses the hope that the mayor/government recognizes that many low income
communities are lacking in needs;
3.) Urges people to fight for these needs by joining organizations, protesting etc.;
4.) Demands money investments so that schools, parks, gardens and even homes etc can be
created/improved;
5.) Deplores the FHA that left long-term redlining effects today in other ways other than housing
Reflection
Why it matters to my community?
What would I have done differently?
What I learned?
