Experiment.1 Name

Water

Materials Needed

2 glasses same size - 1 tall glass water

Exact words I will say:

What I will do when I say these words:

Can you look to these two glasses? Do you think they

have the same amount of juice?

I will show her two glasses fill with juice in a same amount.

We are going to pour this juice into this glass?

I will take the tall glass and fill it with the juice that was in the
small glass.
I show her the tall glass and the small one, and then ask her.

Do you think this glass has more juice or theyre in a

same amount? Why?

Experiment.2 Name

Coins.

Materials Needed

10 coins, all of them dirhams.

Exact words I will say:

What I will do when I say these words:

Which row has more coins? Or theyre the same?

I make two rows with 5 coins in each. In equal distances.

Does this row have more coins? Or the other row has
more coins? Or theyre same? Why?

I keep one row the same, but make more spaces in the other
row between the coins.

Experiment.3 Name

Biscuit

Materials Needed

3 pieces of biscuit.

Exact words I will say:

What I will do when I say these words:

Do you think that we share this Farley? Why?

I put in front me 2 biscuits and one in front her.

Now is it fare? Why?

I cut her biscuit into two half and keep mine the same.

Piaget: Observing Childrens Thinking Skills

Pre-operational stage report 1

Name of child: Sara
Name of experiment 1

Age: 6

Gender: F

Water
Describe the basic procedure of the task
The first step I bring two same sizes of glasses I poured into them colored water in same amount then I asked her Could
you look to these two glasses? Do you think they have the same amount of juice? , Secondly I show her both glasses with
a same limit of water, after that I poured the water from the short glass to the tall glass, then I asked her, do you think this
glass has more juice or theyre in a same amount? Why? .
Describe the childs responses
Step one when the child saw the both glasses of water in same amount she knows it and answer correct, but in the
second step she didnt got it and her answer was wrong because she thought that the tall glass have more water than
the small one.

What do the childs responses signify?

According to Piagets stages, I think that the child is still in the pre-operational stage because her minds still need more
time to develop, and the water experiment illustrates that.

Pre-operational stage report 2
Age: 6
Gender: F

Name of child: Sara

Name of experiment 2

Coins
Describe the basic procedure of the task
I made two rows of 5 coins; both rows are exactly equal in the shape and the number. And I asked her which row has
more coins? Or theyre the same? . After that I kept one row the same, but make more spaces in the other row between
the coins, then I asked her, does this row have more coins? Or the other row has more coins? Or theyre same? Why? .

Describe the childs responses

In step one when I showed her the coins in equal on two rows she got it and answer correct, even in step 2 I surprised
when she told me there are the same, because she counted them.

What do the childs responses signify?

According to Piagets stages, I think that she is closer to concrete operative stage, Because she knew step 2 in the
experiment so she has ability to think and count.

Biscuit
Describe the basic procedure of the task
I put infront me two pieces of biscuits and one infront her, then I asked her do you think that we share this Farley? Why? .
Second step, I broke her biscuit into a half and kept mine the same and I asked her Now is it fare? Why? .

Describe the childs responses

In step one when she saw the biscuits that was in front me and her she said that we arent fair because I
have two and she had one, but when I broke her biscuit into a half she was happy because she though
that we are fair, each of us got two pieces.
What do the childs responses signify?
According to Piagets Stages, shes in pre-operational stage because she didnt knew that even though I broke her
biscuits into two pieces she still have one biscuit.

What do the childs responses signify?

According to Piagets stages, Fatima is in concrete-operational because she knew that even if we change the glass into
a big one it will have the same amount of colored water.

According to Piagets stages, I though that she is in concrete-operational stage, because she realized how many pieces
are in each row even when I make the spaces between the coins.

when I broke the biscuit into a half. Thats mean she is developing.
