The next article analyzes Alfonso Reyes's literary theory, in the

thematic corpus of 'El deslinde', through the manifestation and

development of the concept of 'american inteligence'. Reyes develops
the aforementioned work as an answer that matches his concerns
about the identity of the latinoamerican writer; as well as the
realization of a theorical discurse in the search of an intelectual place
of enunciation from Latin America. The idea that lays the foundation
of this enterprise is the 'American Inteligence' (' Inteligencia
Americana'); it starts in 'Visin de Anhuac', and then it consolidates
in 'A Vuelta de Correo' and 'ltima Tule', to conclude in a mature work,
'El Deslinde'. This critical perspective sustains and demonstatrates,
the discursive dinamic in which Reyes's theoretical postulates inscribe
themselves in relation to his work and his own construction as a
latinoamerican writer.
