Criterion A: Inquiring and Analyzing

Introduction:
In this unit, we have to express ourselves in a creative way, which show our identity. Our main objective is to
create a jigsaw puzzle by collaging pictures about who you are. As a majority of the class we chose our jigsaw
puzzle to be made Plywood. During this unit, we have learnt about Copyright. Copyright is the law of the United
States that protects the works of authors, artists, composers, and others from being used without permission.
Copyright infringement occurs when someone other than the copyright holder copies the expression of a work.
This means the idea or information behind the work is not protected but how the idea is expressed is protected.
We have also learned what does collage and mashup. Collage means putting a combination or collection of various.
Mashup means collecting a lot of information and putting it together. Therefore, in this unit we have to create a
collage with our own photos by using Photoshop or other software. Then we have to use it and placed it on our
jigsaw pieces for creativity night. The solution to the problem in this unit is to use photo shop and collage my own
picture that will be related to my topic, so that I would be able to use it for my jigsaw piece.
Design Brief:
For creativity night, we have to create a grade 7 jigsaw with each student having one piece that reflects who they
are. Whilst completing the task you should not infringe copyright.

This is an effective example of collage because it is a certain shaped collage. The collage shows us clearly that it is
definitely related to soccer. The collage includes pictures that are related and relevant to soccer. It is also a very
unique collage. The improvement that should be improved is adding more pictures in the shape. This will make it
look more interesting. The idea that I could use for my collage is the shaping of the collage, which represent soccer.

Collage 2:

I think that this is also a very effective collage because it has a really interesting shape that represents a meaning
of love The pictures is also very interesting because when there is a lot of images that is relating to the topic, it
makes the collage stands out better. I think that the improvement they should make is to organize the photos
effectively in the shape I would also use a lot of photos that is suitable for collaging in the shape of a heart shaped
that will describe love or something that is really important.

topic because it helps describe the topic better.

The theme that I am going to make for my collage is about something that I love and enjoy, which will show my
identity. I would include like the shape of a soccer ball like my research above. I think that it will represent
something that is very important to me. I would also use a variety of pictures that is relating to the topic. I would
also use a lot of picture in my collage because through my research I have found out that it would make a good
collage. After researching, I will organize the collage in the soccer ball effectively because it will help the theme to
stand out better.

I think that I had use a variety of colors and images that describe and reflect on my personality. I also did a
good job on combining the images into one. I should improve on the different size and setup. The setup will
eventually help me by making others identifying the images easier because of it size or location. I should also
improve on using better images because some of it doesnt attract audiences attention or represent the features

Design 2:

I had made the shape collage unique because of it represent the map of Cambodia. The mixture of picture
that was all related to my theme, which was also good, because there is different types drawings/images that
evidently state the meaning of it. I did well on my annotations because I have listed the images I want on the
collage and the colors of every part of the puzzle. I should also improve on increasing the size of the images, so
that it will look full on the puzzle. This help avoid gaps to happen which makes it help to identify the images. I
should improve on the setup and organizing because it is hard to see the images.

The mixture of pictures and colors describe my personality really well. There is also an effective use of space
because the images are really organized in different places by their size. I think that shape collage is really
interesting because it strongly represent a part of my identity. I did well on my annotations because I have included
the important information on the paper. I can improve on adjusting the different size of the images because it will
make the collage more effective. I can also improve on using better images, so that it would be more fascinating.

Final choice:

I decided to choose design 3 for my final choice because fit all of my specifications and there is only a bit of
improvement needed for it. This collage includes shape collage, which is creative. It also strongly represent that I
like soccer. The piece of puzzle could radically represent my personalities. It is interesting because of the borders,
which separate the pictures. The use of space and colors is also suitable to the collage because it is easy to

identify. The colors also made it look interesting and fun. Therefore. I think that this is the final choice because it
fits all the specification.
Criterion C: Creating the solution
Plan:
The tools and resources needed to create my collage are:
Copyrighted images (my own pictures or pictures from Britannica)
Photoshop
The jigsaw template
Step by step guide with timeline:
1. First, gather all of the tools and resources needed
(I will finish this by the 25th of April 2015)
2. Then, open Photoshop and create a new document with the size of 27cm by 17cm
3. Next, insert the jigsaw template in the document
4. Later, add a new layer
5. Then, add the soccer ball template right in the middle of the jigsaw piece
6. Afterward, add a new layer
7. Now, start to insert the pictures to its location
8. Then, crop the picture, so that it will fit in the place
9. Later, add another layer

(This is how it looks)

This is my final product. It looks similar to my draft but I have made some changes during the process.
Changes made during creation:
I made some changes to the blank parts that I was planning to add color by inserting photo because I
thought that it doesnt look like a collage at all. I also made some changes to the location of the images
because some wasnt suitable with its current location. I have also decided to insert photo at the black spot
of the soccer ball because there was too much space left out. I have also made the images connect to each
other without using black lines to separate them out. Therefore, I think that the changes I had made was very
suitable for it to become a better collage. I also found out that the size of the my jigsaw piece was a bit
bigger than the actual size because I expand the jigsaw and fill it up on the paper which was 27cm by 17cm.

Results of Survey:
After the survey, I found out that all of them like my collage because it includes a shape-collage. There is also a
mixture of images in the collage, which make it looks good. The setup of the different place of the collage was also
interesting because it makes the photos easy to see. I think that everyone said the variety of photos I have built-in
clearly state my identity. They also knew that the shaped collage shows that I really like to play soccer. I found out
that my collage fits all of my specifications that I had in the beginning because there are evidences of it in my
collage. An overall score that I had got from the survey was mostly 5. There are also several of improvements that I

have to make in order to make it better. The most common one was to improve on the setup and location of the
different photos. The other one was the size of the puzzle because several people noticed that it was a bit bigger
than the actual size. Therefore, I think that I was successful in my collage through the results of my survey but
there are also improvements needed.
Improvement needed
Use the given template
I should use the given template because it would help me save time and I dont have to waste time trying to
adjust the collage in order to let it fit the puzzle. This would help make my collage better because the size
would be exactly the same and I dont have to make edits to it. I should also follow the instruction that was
given by Ms. Pauline about the size of it.
Change the black spots in the collage
I should change the black spots in the collage because it will help make the collage look better and I can
merge the photo all together which makes it interesting. This would help make my collage better because it
will look more interesting and it will make define the meaning of the pictures better.
Setup
I should change the setup of the collage because it will make some pictures look better. This would help
make my collage better because the audience wouldnt have to spend much time and they could clearly find
out about my identity.
The use of color
I should use a variety of colors because it would help make my collage look more effective. This would help
make my collage better because I could try to explore with the different effects of colors on my collage like
