floodsthroughouttheyearfromanunreliableclimate,causingittobeverydifficultto
growanycrops.AccordingtotheRuralPovertyPortal,

Gambiansandanevenhigherproportionamongpoorandextremelypoorpeople
dependonagriculturefortheirlivelihood.Ourorganization,LiveGreenAfrica,has
madeitagoaltohelpfarmersinTheGambiafindprosperityandsuccessthroughtheir
cropsandtoshowcompassionandselflessness,whileprovidingthemwiththe
resourcestheyneed.Webelievethateveryoneshouldhavetheopportunitytoachieve
prosperity.ThatiswhywehaveprovidedGambianswithanaffordablewayout.`Our
solutionistoprovideGambianfamilieswithgreenhouses,information,andresources
thatwillhelpthemgrowtheircropstothebestoftheirabilities.Greenhouseswill
provideacompletelycontrolledclimateforGambianstogrowtheircropsbycirculating
moistureandsunlighttokeeptheplantsalive.Thegoalofthisistohelpthemgrow
enoughcropstofeedtheirfamiliesandearnenoughmoneyeveryyear.
Oursolutionisveryuniquebecauseitisasystem,ratherthanahandout.We
aretheonlyorganizationthatprovidesinformation,resources,andagreenhouseover
timetohelpsolvetheproblemsofhungerandpovertyatthesource.Wedesignedour
solutionsothatitwillgrowovertime,whichgrowsthecommunityofTheGambiaas
wellasgrowingindividuals.Startingout,wewillworkwithtwoorthreefamiliesandby
theendof5years,weshouldbeworkingwith2030familiesinTheGambia.We
believethatourorganizationhasthepotentialtoexpandtoothercountriesinAfricaby
theendof10years,meaningthatwewillbeworkingwith100150families.

MarketAnalysis
LiveGreenAfricasmainpurposeistohelpfarmersinTheGambiacreatea
sustainable,reliablefoodsourcetoimprovetheirlivelihood.Wearestilltakingthefirst
stepstobecomesustainable,butourplanstofurtherdevelopourorganizationinclude
expandingtheareaofoursolutionandincreasingtheamountoffarmersinAfricathat
areinuseofourservice.Weplantodothisthroughworkshopsaboutfarmingthatwill

drawpeopleintoourservices.Wehopethatthiswillbringinmostofourcustomers.To
findourtargetmarket,wedidsomeresearch.OnTheRuralPovertyPortal,wefound
that,Underlyingthehighpovertyratesisthecountry'srelativelylackofeconomic
diversity,whichmakesTheGambiahighlyvulnerabletoincreasinglyerraticrainfall,
foodpricevolatilityandfinancialcrises.Basedonthisinformationwechosetotarget
ourservicestowardspoorfarmingfamiliesinTheGambia.Wehavechosenthisgroup
becausetheystrugglethemostwiththeconstantlychangingclimateandarevery
manageableforourbrandneworganization.
Thecriticalneedofourtargetmarketisawaytoadapttoconstantclimate
change.InanarticletalkingaboutaprojectcreatedinTheGambiabyTheGlobal
EnvironmentFacilityitstates,ThemainproblemfacingtheGambiacurrentlyisahigh
vulnerabilitytoclimatechange,exacerbatedbyalowcapacitytoaddressandadapt.
Theseneedsarenotbeingmetduetolackofresourcesneededtoadapttotheir
climate.AsfoundontheTheWorldBankwebsite,inTheGambiaoverhalfofthe
populationisunderthepovertyline.Webelievethatoursolutionwillbenefitthe
population.ProvidinggreenhousestoGambianfarmerswillkeepthemfrombeing
victimsofcroplossduetoclimatechange.
Theannualpurchasesthataremadeforoursolutionincludethepriceofthe
glassandmetalusedforthegreenhouseandanyrepairsneeded.Onaverage,recycled
glasscostsfrom$7090perton.Wewillalsobeusingrecycledmetalwhichcostsabout
$280300perton.Ifagreenhouseisinneedofrepairswewillprovideresourcesas
neededuntiltheycangetbackontheirfeet.Whatwehopewillhappenwiththefamilies
wehelpisthattheywillgainasustainablefoodsourceandbeabletobeabovethe
povertylinebysellingtheircrops.Weexpecttostartoffhelpingtwoorthreefamilies
andgrowtoatleast2030bytheendof5years.Startingsmallallowsustotakesmaller
risksandtotesthowcooperatingwellwitheachfamilywillwork.Afterrefiningthe
processwewillbeabletoexpandfromthere.
Wesupplyourcustomerswiththeresourcesandinformationtheyneedtogrow
cropsforsaleandalsoforconsumption.Fromthis,wereceive15%ofthemoneythey
makefromsellingtheircrops.10%willgotowardsthecompanytobeabletoexpand
andhaveasustainableflowofcashandthe5%willgototheexpensesoftheservices.
Thefamilykeepstheother85%asaregularflowofincomeforthemselves.The
servicesofLiveGreenAfricawillincludeallowingthefamilytopurchasetheseedswith
$120wewillgivetothem,agreenhouse,andotherresourcesnecessary.Whenthe
familyhasenoughmoneysavedup,theycanbuildagreenhouse.
Currently,wearetheonlyorganizationusingthesystemwehavecreated.
Becauseweprovideinformationandmaterials,oursystemisveryunique.Sofar,there
havebeennosecondarycompetitorsandwedonotexpecttoencounterany.Some
barrierswemightencounterareifafamilydoesnotwantnotwanttoinvestthe5%and

insteadhaveextramoneyorifafamilydoesnotwishtoselltheircrops,butoursystem
canbetailoredtotheneedsofthefamilies.
Asacompany,wehavetoenforcerestrictionsonsomeareasofoursolutionto
ensurethatitiscarriedoutproperly.Oneofthoserestrictionsisthatourcustomers
havetousethemoneyweprovideforagriculture.However,therearenogovernment
regulationsthatapplytooursolution.Ourgoalistobetterthelivesofourcustomers
andinordertodothatwemustbewillingtoworkwiththemandtheymustbewillingto
workwithus.

AtLiveGreenAfrica,ourmaingoalistosupplyGambiancitizenswitheducation,
resources,andgreenhousesthatwillallowthemtocontrolclimatefortheircropsina
sustainableandenvironmentallyfriendlyway.Withmanydifferentstepstoouroverall
solution,weradiatecompassionandselflessnesstoprovideopportunitiesforpeople
whohavenoaccesstothethingstheyneed.Ourservicebenefitsmanyfiguresinthe
Gambiansociety.Withover60%ofpeopleinGambiarelyingonagriculturefortheir
livelihood,ourtailoredsolutionaddressestheproblemofunreliablefarmingthat
negativelyaffectstheincomeoftheaverageGambian.Wewillhelpmanypeoplewith
educationandclimatecontrol.
OurservicelineLiveGreenAfrica,hasnocompetitorsthatcomecloseto
distributingthesameideasasus.Greenhousesareaworldwideusedproduct,including
inAfrica,butnootherorganization,particularlyinTheGambia,hasprovideda
greenhousealongwithresourcesandeducation.
OursolutionatLiveGreenAfricaisatwostepplan.Ourfirststepiseducating.
WestartbyvisitingGambianvillages.Oncewehavefoundacommunityinneedthat
hasfiguresinterestedinoursolution,wewillhostaworkshoportwo.Theseworkshops
arefreeandopentothepublic.Attheseworkshopsweaddresstheproblemwith
Gambianfarmingunreliableclimate(droughtandrain)throughawellrehearsed,
educatedpresentation.Wetakeinfeedbackfromattendeesaboutlocalfarminghabits
anddistributeadvice.Wethendescribewhatourprogramdoesandhowtheycantake
partinit.Iftheysignupforourprogram,whichisfree,wethenscheduleanother
meetingforthenextstep.Atthismeeting,wewillbegineducatingonhowtoeffectively
farm.Thisprocesscanrangeanywherefromspeakingofbreedingplantstowatering
correctly,andistailoredtotheproblemsofthearea.Thiscanhelpthesepeopleby
stabilizingtheirsourceofincome.
Thesecondpartofoursolutionistoprovidethefamilieswithresourcesto
improvetheircropyield.Weaskfor15%ofprofitfromthecropssoldbythesefarmers
andsetitaside.10%goestoourprogramtocreateoursustainablefundingstream,and

5%goestotheirownagriculturesavingsfund.Onceenoughmoneyisraisedupbythe
families,wehelpthemtocreatetheirownpersonalgreenhouses.Thesegreenhouses
canhelpthemtogrowcropstoselllocally,orjusttoputontheirowntables.We
continuetotake15%fromthesefamilieseveryyear,whethertheyareusinga
greenhouseforasourceofincome,ortheyarejustfarmingasusualandoureducation
hashadanaffectonthem.Themoneysetasideaftertheyalreadyhavetheir
greenhouseisusedforbuyingseedsorfertilizer,dependingonhowthefamilywould
liketospendtheirmoney.
Asofnow,wearecreatingascaleddownmodelbecauseweareattheverystart
ofcreatingourorganization.Thismodelofagreenhouseisaboutthesizeofatissue
boxwitharoof.Weareusingplasticfromsodabottlesasourglassandpopsicle
sticksasthemetal.Thismodelwillgiveanideaofwhattherealgreenhouseswilllook
like.
Wedonothaveanypatentsrightnowandarenotplanningongettingany
patentsinthefutureforourservices.We,asanorganizationbelievethatthisservice
shouldbespreadandwewillnottrytokeepotherindividualsorgroupsfromusingitin
placeswheretheyseeaneed.However,wedohopethatitwillbeusedinthebest
interestofotherpeople.
Researchanddevelopmentisanareathatisveryimportanttoourorganization.
Ourresearchplaninthefutureincludesastudy5yearsintotheproject.Thisstudywill
includelookingatallofthefamiliesthathavetakenpartinoursolutionandthosewho
havenot.Wewilllookatmonthlyincomeoffarmingfromnongreenhousefamilies,and
greenhousefamilies.Fromthis,wewillbeabletomeasurehowmuchofanimpactwe
arecreatingifoneatall.Fromtheinformationwegain,wewilltrytorefineoursolution
tomakeitbetter.

MarketingStrategy:

Wewillbesellinginformation,resources,andagreenhousetothepeopleofThe
Gambia.ThepurposeofourproductistoprovideGambianfarmerswithareliableand
controlledsettinginwhichtogrowtheircrops.Inordertoachieveourgoalofbeingable
toprovideourgreenhouses,weneedourprojecttobeknownandrecognised.
Inordertosuccessfullyintroduceourprojecttothepublicandintothebusiness
market,wewilluseanextensivesocialmediacampaign.Socialmediawillbeakey
componentinmakingourprojectknowntoboththepublicandtopossibleinvestors.We
willadvertiseourorganizationonfacebookandinstagram,explainingwhatoursolution
is.Wewillalsohaveacommercialthatpromotesourplan.Withthese,wewillbeusing
theslogan,LiveGreen,growgreen.Thisishowweplantofindpeoplewhoarewilling
tohelpuswithstartupcosts.

Theproblemwewillbeaddressingisunreliableclimate.Gambiahasextreme
weather,includingoftendroughtsandfloods,bothofwhichcandestroyafarmers
crops.FarmersinTheGambiadonothaveacontrolledandsafeplacetogrowtheir
crops,whichiswhatwewillprovidethemwith.Tostartout,farmersinTheGambiawill
beprovidedwithtrainingtobreedandgrowtheircropsmostefficiently.Wewillaskfor
15%ofthemoneytheymakefromtheircrops.5%willgointotheirsavings,andwewill
receivetheother10%asprofit.The5%willbeputtowardsresourcesanda
greenhouse.
Byreceiving10%oftheprofitsfromtheGambianfarmers,wewillhavea
continuousandconstantprofit.Withtheprofitswemake,wewillhireandtrainmore
peopletoworkwiththefarmers.Wewillstartwithaverysmallnumberofemployees,
eachspeciallytrainedtoeducatetheGambianpeople.Whenwestarttogrowour
company,wewillhireandtrainGambiansinordertoproducealargerclientele,provide
jobs,andtoreachmorepeople.
Asweexpandtootherareas,wewillcontinuetoprovidethesameservicesand
products.Theglassandothermaterialsneededwillbeboughtfromrecyclingplantsin
andaroundTheGambia.WewillbuildthegreenhouseswithourclientsinTheGambia.
Bypurchasingthegreenhouse,theywillalsoreceivetrainingonhowtomaintainthem.
OuremployeesattheLiveGreenAfricaHQinTheGambiawillbeabletoreachour
customersonadailybasis,creatinggoodrelationshipswiththem,aswellasproviding
advertisementsthroughfreeworkshopsandlessons.Theseworkshopswillprovide
informationonfarmingtechniquesandgreenhousebenefitsandwilldoubleas
promotionforLiveGreenAfrica.
