Essay
Research shows that 25% of teenagers have experienced cyber bullying and
88%
of
teenagers
have
witnessed
cyber
bullying.
The
over
use
of
technology
and
bullying
among
youth
are
both
factors
that
lead
to
cyber
bullying.
These
two
issues
are
present
in
the
society
in
Fahrenheit
451
by
Ray
Radbury
and
in
my
life/our
society
today.
Because
technology
and
bullying
are
so
dominant
in
both
societies,
they
take
away
time
for
people
to
create
deep
connections
with
others.
However,
there
are
changes
that
I
can
implement
in
my
own
life
to
better
alleviate
these
problems
and
their
effects
on
me.
The first issue is technology. Technology takes away time for people to spend
with
others
in
creating
deep
relationships.
People
rely
on
technology
and
turn
to
technology
for
help
instead
of
solving
the
problems
themselves.
Technology
also
acts
as
a
distraction
for
people,
taking
their
minds
off
of
unpleasant
things.
In
the
novel,
Mildred
listens
to
seashell
radios
and
watches
parlour
walls
day
and
night;
she
even
calls
the
people
in
these
walls
her
family.
the
little
seashells
Every
night
the
waves
came
in
and
bore
her
off
on
their
great
tides
of
sound,
floating
her,
wide-eyed,
toward
morning.
(Fahrenheit
451,
P.5)
This
quote
shows
that
technology
is
taking
over
her
mind
in
a
way
as
it
is
described
that
Mildred
floats
wide-eyed,
toward
morning,
shes
not
really
thinking
about
anything,
but
just
going
to
wherever
the
seashells
are
taking
her.
Even
in
our
society
and
my
own
life,
I
Wong, Stella

see
people
on
their
phones
almost
everywhere
I
go.
I,
too,
use
technology
for
hours
on
end
everyday.
To
break
down
the
negative
effects
that
technology
has
brought
into
my
life,
I
could
make
sure
to
spend
at
least
30
minutes
less
everyday
using
these
devices.
To
enforce
this
solution,
I
will
put
reminders
at
places
where
I
go
to
often
so
that
I
would
remember
to
do
something
else
other
than
using
technology.
This
solution
would
ensure
that
I
get
to
spend
more
quality
time
with
my
family
and
friends.
I
would
also
be
able
to
have
more
time
to
focus
on
my
main
priorities
instead
of
using
technology
to
procrastinate.
Due to the abundant use of technology, more youth are experiencing not just
bullying,
but
cyber
bullying
as
well.
Bullying/cyber
bullying
is
another
issue
that
exists
in
Fahrenheit
451s
society
and
our
society.
Bullying
can
make
kids
feel
insecure
and
leads
to
numerous
problems
including
drug
abuse
and
suicide.
It
is
described
in
the
society
of
Fahrenheit
451,
a
fun
park
to
bully
people
around,
break
windowpanes
or
wreck
cars
They
kill
each
other.
(Fahrenheit
451,
P.14)
Kids
go
to
the
fun
park
after
school
and
are
killed
constantly
by
one
another.
Although
our
society
is
not
as
violent,
bullying
is
still
a
problem
for
many
children
and
teenagers
whether
its
online
or
in
the
real
world.
Although
I
have
not
been
bullied
before,
I
have
heard
countless
stories
regarding
to
bullying;
our
school
also
teaches
us
about
its
negative
effects
and
how
to
deal
with
it.
Something
I
could
do
to
help
with
this
issue
is
that
if
I
see
other
students
being
bullied
at
school,
I
would
find
a
trusted
adult
to
deal
with
it.
Finding
an
adult
that
I
know
has
the
power
to
deal
with
this
issue
will
make
things
better;
it
would
minimize
bullying,
at
least
for
the
students
in
our
school.

overwhelming
use
of
technology
and
bullying
among
youth.
Both
technology
and
bullying
take
away
time
for
people
to
really
get
to
know
each
other,
and
to
create
strong
relationships
in
a
society.
Nevertheless,
there
are
things
that
every
individual
can
do
to
lessen
cyber
bullying
and
its
effects;
simple
things
such
as
reducing
technological
use
by
30
minutes
a
day,
or
to
find
an
adult
that
you
can
count
on
to
manage
bullying
at
school.
These
solutions
would
give
us
more
time
to
spend
with
others,
and
it
would
create
safer
environments
for
children
and
teenagers.
Technology
and
bullying
are
two
important
issues
that
need
to
be
discussed
because
if
we
were
to
take
a
closer
look
at
both
issues,
we
would
see
how
they
bring
out
the
flaws
of
society
and
the
people
within
it.
