Problem: Indigenous children are either not attending school or the majority that do

attend receive their education in Spanish, which is not their native language. 46% of all
indigenous children do not receive their education in their native tongue; this also leads to
intellectual developmental delays and a lack of motivation to attend school. It also causes
children to develop a negative complex toward education because they associate it with
frustration and not understanding.
Cause: The lack of teachers who speak indigenous languages.
Solution: The best solution for this problem would be to come up with some way to get
more teachers trained in the indigenous languages (mainly Quechua and Aymara). The
best solution I came up with is to increase recruiting for teachers among the more
indigenous people. This would prevent the need of developing more programs and further
training for teachers (spending several more years in school learning other languages) and
also bring in teachers with experience of being in the different indigenous cultures.

Problem: Rural girls face obstacles in receiving an education.
Cause: Schools are far away and this causes the walk to be both difficult and dangerous
for rural girls, especially when that trek is made during the night. Only 66.4% of all rural
girls between ages 14-16 attend school compared to the normal attendance of 83.7% of
urban girls of the same age. Rural communities also prefer to send their boys to school
over sending their girls. Many rural girls also drop out in order to start families young,
which is a culturally acceptable thing to do.
Solution: The establishment of boarding schools is the best solution I came up with.
Having girls sent to boarding schools in the nearby area solves the problem of the
dangerous and long walk to school and will also start correcting the communities view
girls receiving an education as more girls begin to attend school. They wont be starting
families as young because having a boarding school will help them to be more committed
to their education.
