Nine Sentence Story

Overview
This project will introduce you to all of the fundamental stages of the filmmaking
processpre-production, production, and post-production. Youve already explored
basic technical skills, shooting skills, and composition skills required to create short
videos using your iPad and Microsoft Movie Maker. This project will expand your
knowledge by introducing key cinematic principles of storytelling, storyboarding,
and advanced editing.
Project Objectives
Construct a 9 sentence story that includes the three acts of a story
Identify different shot styles and their uses
Create a video that demonstrates the role of shot styles, camera movement,
and composition in telling a story
Demonstrate the concepts of balance as related to framing a shot and use them
to achieve a desired result
Create storyboards (that include storyboard number, shot location, shot style,
video, audio, props/wardrobe, and dialogue/voiceover narration/test) to plan
shots and plan for production
Describe and assign various production roles, dividing work among crew
members
Shoot video footage or still photos by using storyboards (using iPads)
Locate copyright free digital media (music, sound effects, photos) to use in
project
Capture video footage from camera to computer
Add clips to a timeline in Microsoft Movie Maker and trim
Deliverables
You will create the following deliverables, and they will be used for assessment:
1. Nine Sentence Story Worksheet
2. Storyboards for your nine sentence story (applying your knowledge of shot
styles, camera angles, camera movement, composition, and motivation for
shots)
3. Final video
