LETTER TO PARENTS
SUBJECT: Safety of USASMA Students
Parents and Community,
As we all struggle with the recent tragedies in the form of shootings on our military bases, I want
to assure you that the safety of your USASMA Class 65 loved ones is always a priority. It is an
honor to be a part of your Soldier's lives and it is our responsibility to do the best we can to keep
your son or daughter safe.
There are many safeguards and procedures in place that are designed to prevent a variety
of incidents and when necessary, react to possible dangers. Some of these include:
Safety drills- fire, tornadoes, earthquakes, unwanted intruder and lockdown drills
Staff identification badges
School Resource Officers at all high schools
Academy floor plans in the hand of law enforcement and on-base security
Visitor sign in procedures
Locked doors
Emergency call buttons
Security cameras
Student badges
Academy safety plans
Regular meetings with Public Safety to review and improve plans
In addition to these procedures, staff and students themselves are alert to unusual
happenings in and around their campus. It is not uncommon for a neighbor or passer-by to
report something amiss at USASMA. Please help us by being another set of eyes and don't
hesitate to call local law enforcement, our staff or the provost office
(123-4567) if you have a concern. Thank you for helping us keep the United States Sergeants
Major Academy a safe place for our Soldiers to grow and learn.
