Hello. My name is Olivia. Today were going to
talk about the importance of having an education in music, as well as why music is important to have in our lives in general. I will be interviewing music teachers, students and many more people as well as taking a look at some of the statistics about music education. Westwood Regional Jr./Sr. High Schools music program is ______________________ ____________________________.

Chorus Student, Ashley G. MS (No questions asked back and forth to her is shown on video. Only her responses)
Ive been in Chamber Singers, the honors
choir at Westwood since freshman year. Chamber Singers is different than the regular Concert Choir because we have to learn more challenging music as well as the concert choirs music. It is a select group so you have
to audition to be a part of it. Taking this music
class has allowed me to do many performances out of school other than just the standard winter/spring concerts and to be challenged to read harder music, which was something that Ive always struggled with prior to being apart of Chamber. Various shots of the choir singing and transitions back and forth from these b-roll clips in her interview.
Audio is Ashley Grobs interview and MAYBE

Closure to the interview and choir shots by
fading back to Olivia (High Angle Shot)-- She will be sitting on the grass.
Did you know that kids who study music tend
to have larger vocabularies and more advanced reading skills than their peers who do not participate in music?

Studies show that young children who take
music lessons show different brain development and improved memory over the course of a year, compared to children who do not receive musical training. Additionally, studying music not only will benefit you if you decide to go into the music industry, but other fields of study as well. Lewis Thomas, a biologist, found that music majors comprise the highest percentage of accepted medical students at 66%. I talked to Ms. Forgione about the benefits of music education of children and teens as well as why music
education is beneficial to schools.
Monica Fade to Ms. Forgione (MS)
Why is music so beneficial for children and
teens especially as their brains are still developing? (OUR VOICES ARE NOT PLAYED) Why is a music education so beneficial to schools? (OUR VOICES ARE NOT PLAYED) Audio- Forgione talking.

Statistic shown on screen in text format
(Olivias voice-over) Schools with music
