Main Dish

Create a layered foldable for a terrestrial food chain using the
vocabulary words listed below. For each word, include a definition and
a picture of at least one organism. You will need three pieces of
construction paper to create your foldable.

The Game of Food: Design a game that can be played to review


important food chain concepts. Your game can focus on one or
multiple concepts. Include game directions and materials. We will

keep the games in the classroom to
be enjoyed

throughout our food chain unit.

Once upon a time: Write a poem or short story about an


aquatic or terrestrial food chain. Choose one food chain to make
the focus of your poem or story. After drafting and revising your
poem or story, use Story Builder to write your final draft. You will
access Story Builder through our class Portaportal.

Chefs Special: You are the chef at a restaurant. Develop a list of


specialty dishes that your restaurant serves. Include at least 2
appetizers and 2 main dishes. Next, create a food chain
for each dish. Name your restaurant and design a menu
that shows each dish and its food chain.

Food Chain Fact Check: Read There was an Old Lady who
Swallowed a Fly. Rewrite the story to make it more scientifically
accurate. Create a book with your changes. Illustrations may be

hand draw or cut out from magazines.

The Food Chain Funnies: Create a comic strip about food


chains. Write and illustrate a comic strip using your knowledge of
food chains. Include an explanation of what your comic strip is
about and how it connects to what you have learned so far.

Food Chain Rock star: Write an educational song about food


chains. Your song may focus on one or multiple
concepts. Visit the computer station to record your
song on Garage Band. Save your song onto a CD.

Dessert
You may work on any of these when you have completed
your 2 side dishes and main dish.
