Pursuant to administrative rule: all hearings and trials must be coordinated!
MOTION CALENDAR HEARINGS:
Monday through Thursday @ 8:45 A.M. Please set UMC hearings at least 5 days out. Our
cap for motion calendar is 30. Only two (2) motions can be scheduled on the same case,
must be coordinated and must be scheduled simultaneously. If counsel wants to appear
telephonically, he/she may do so, so long as the opposing side does not have any objections.
The notice of hearing must clearly state in BOLD face counsels name, telephone number
where we contact him/her; and a call needs to be given to the JA with that information a
few days prior to hearing. Counsel has to be ready once the phone call is placed. Further,
if the moving party is appearing via telephone, copies of proposed orders and envelopes
must be enclosed, or no hearing.
For all Procedural Questions and scheduling of hearings such as UMCs special sets and
trials refer to our website at www.17th.flcourts.org - all must be scheduled and confirmed
on line.

All orders received will be processed in a timely fashion. Due to the large amount of mail
received daily, it is impossible to determine if your order has been signed or sent out . DO

NOT CALL TO SEE IF YOUR ORDER HAS BEEN SIGNED.


CMC any dismissals, settlements or any motions relating to the same - must
be delivered to the Judge either by hand-delivery or overnight delivery prior
to any hearings no messages will be returned re: same. No Faxes or E-mails
are accepted!

CASES READY FOR TRIAL AND MEDIATION:


Users of the Courts on line scheduling system shall self schedule trials in accord with
Admin Order # 2010-33-Civ. Counsel must certify they have consulted with all counsel of
record or parties regarding an agreed trial setting. All available trial dates will be available
on the Courts procedures page. No unilateral trial settings are permitted. Any disputes
regarding a trial date are to be set on the Courts uniform motion calendar. After
agreement of a trial date, users should prepare the trial order together with a notice for
trial in accordance with Florida Rule Civil Procedure 1.440 and submit same to the Judges
office with sufficient copies, self-addressed stamped envelopes for all (including the
mediator) for return conformed copies. Remember to send a blank, stamped envelope for a
court appointed mediator. Some trial periods may be unavailable due to the docket being
full, holidays, etc.
In the event counsel agree for a continuance of a trial period, an agreed motion and order
(with self-addressed envelopes) must be submitted to the Judge via hand-delivery,
overnight, or the United States Mail.

-TRIAL DOCKETS ARE CAPPED AT 24- All trial dockets are available from the
drop-down menu located on the on-line system under Calendar Call.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE: The two week jury trial period in May, 2015 will
ONLY be available to cases from year 2008 and earlier years. Any cases
placed on this docket after year 2008-will be sent back.
ANY PROPOSED ORDERS: Any and all proposed Orders submitted to the Judge
must be accompanied by a motion, proposed order with copies to all parties and/or counsel
involved, along with self-addressed stamped envelopes provided to all involved. No
conformed copies will be sent out unless all of the above is complied with.

WITHDRAWAL OR SUBSTITUTION OF COUNSEL: All such ex-parte


motion must have the clients signed consent attached.
SPECIAL SET HEARINGS: Must be coordinated by parties on-line. Any
case law, memorandum of law, etc. to be considered by the Judge must be in
our office approximately ten (10) days prior to hearing.
CASE MANAGEMENT CONFERENCES: If you are ordered to appear in
court on a case management conference, court appearance is MANDATORY,
unless an Order of Dismissal is filed on the case. Failure to show to a case
management conference will result in the case being dismissed.
