PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

In our global society, all people become learners and teachers

throughout their lives. While learners strive to acquire knowledge that
furthers their abilities to function and advance their aspirations, teachers
attempt to educate their students with knowledge that enhances short term
and long term goals. Thus, teaching is a process by which students are
motivated to learn knowledge that positively influences the way they think,
behave, and view their world. Therefore the definition and goal for all
teachers of excellence is to elevate student thinking to a level that requires
deep knowledge of useful information that makes student lives as productive
and meaningful as possible.
As our society progresses and advances as a unit, individuals strive to
interpret their meaningful roles of participation. With expansions in
technology and communication, our global society offers diverse opportunity
for joining forces for the common good of all human kind through 21st
century skills. Therefore, the primary duty of educators is to offer educational
opportunities to prepare their students for successful and meaningful
vocational and social positions of stewardship within the environment they
choose.
The foundation of knowledge for many people begins in the formal
education originated at school. As a teacher of primary education, personal
duties center on the ability to become a subject matter expert, pedagogical
expert, communication expert, student-centered mentor, and assessment
expert. Excellent teachers work tirelessly to gain deep understanding of all
subjects they teach. Through core curriculum content understanding of basic
math, language arts, science, and social studies, teachers help students form
a knowledge base that allows them to scaffold a diverse body of knowledge,
and develop critical thinking skills necessary for life-long learning. As a
pedagogical expert, teachers educate students by clearly setting appropriate

learning goals and objectives. By exhibiting trust and faith in student

abilities, teachers advocate high expectations from students and guide them
to successfully explore solutions through problem based learning
opportunities.
Teachers who model exemplary communication skills clarify and
simplify complex subjects that provocatively inspire students to build bridges
in learning while they develop reciprocal communication skills. These
teachers promote mutual respect by modeling positive and respectful verbal
and non-verbal cues, which creates an environment of comfortable and
confident learners. They routinely offer chances to accentuate and
appreciate each childs unique gifts in effort to build a strong classroom
community through community circles, guest speakers, and culturally
significant text and curriculum. Excellent teachers highlight effective
communication by successfully utilizing cutting edge technology. They
prepare students for their universal participation in society by integrating
these technological tools into collaborative project based learning
opportunities. Excellent teachers model, engage, and prepare student to
effectively communicate in their classrooms in effort to develop everlasting
constructive communication skills.
As an assessor, teachers must continuously prepare, analyze, and
evaluate by assessment in order to successfully teach all students. They
must employ fair and impartial screening methods that guarantee immediate
feedback and objective results by continuously monitoring success through
valid and reliable pre-assessment, formative assessment, and summative
assessment opportunities. These teachers create an environment that invites
constructive feedback, and adapt teaching styles that reach each individual
student. Excellent teachers must recognize unique individual qualities in
students in order to compliment learning styles and ensure universally
successful outcomes.

Education, in any form allows individuals to acquire knowledge that

advances their lives. As an educator, teachers carry profound responsibility
to ensure their students experience a formal education world that is
constructive, creative, and emotionally healthy. Thus, the ultimate goal for
educators is to develop a foundation in learning core curriculum that
encourages critical thought necessary to grow, advance, and prepare their
students for positive future endeavors.
