Integrating Instructional Technology of Comprehensive Technology Plan

Facilitate and Enhance Instruction in the Classroom

According to resources provided this paper will discuss the importance of technology
being used in the classrooms through facilitated and enhance instruction. Integrating instructional
technology is important, because it allow students to grasp instruction of lesson effectively.
Teachers have found that using computers, mobile devices, digital media, and other computersrelated technologies can capture students attention and improve students outcome (Shelly,
2010).

The information entails three specific technologies that require curriculum and content

of the use of technology, such as Smart Board, Skype, and Power Point have essential part of the
technology in the classroom. Integrating technology in the classroom is essential by
incorporating, digital tools such as; Smart board, Skype and Power point to keep students
engaged in learning. Early childhood teachers understand technology and media as important
influences on childrens development (NAEYC.N.p., 2009 ).
(Smart Board)
The Smart Board is an interactive touchscreen. Students can experience hands-on
interaction. The Smart Board enhances instructional learning by allowing students to engage in
activities, lessons, participation, group discussion, and answering question pertaining to
interaction with Smart Board. Having Smart Board in the classroom will allow students to
experience hands on. For Example: Students could do a reading lesson on history and then
following discussion about the reading with questions to answer at the end of what they learn.
Using the Smart Board as a whole group will allow students to have interaction with websites,
work on math problems, play games, listening to stories, and answer questions on what the
students have learned. The curriculum or content used will enhance through the use of
technology is to prepare students for structure learning environment that will meet the needs of
the students academics.

(Skype)
Skype is used on a computer that has a webcam for teachers and students to engage in
exploring the world. Skype can be facilitating by giving students the opportunity to learn about
life around the world right in their classroom. This technology will enhance instruction by
allowing students to engage in discussion, collaboration, virtual field trips, invite guess speaker,
and to learn about other cultures. Using skype in the classroom students will engage in the
lesson. For example: Providing a lesson on countries and their cultures students can pick a
culture they would like to learn about. Having the students explore that particular country and
learn everything there is to know by communicating with the people of that country. Having
students to ask questions and taking notes so they can provide share information of what they
learn as a whole group discussion. The curriculum or content I will enhance through the use of
technology is to allow students to engage experience, communicate skills and learn about the
world through Skype.
(PowerPoint)
Power Point is used in the classroom to give students visual impact instead of students
learning with textbooks or paper writing. Power point can be used for lectures, online learning
and for students assignments. Using Power point in the classroom can be a great way of
teaching a specific subject and preparing the slides with information of pictures and words to
incorporate the learning. Making it interesting and simple but have visual aid to implement the
lesson. The curriculum or content enhancing through the use of this technology is by
constructing a presentation of Power Point slides of lesson to enhance a visual aid to incorporate
students academics.

Conclusion
Integrating instructional technology allows students to develop skills, an opportunity to
participate in classroom discussion, and give students a chance to operate technology. The three
digital tools which were discussed were Smart Board, Skype, and Power Point which are
essential in facilitating and enhancing instruction in the classroom. Integrating technology in the
21st Century classroom helps teachers create a meaningful learning atmosphere for students, and
how it ties into Common Core and ISTE standards by working on collaboration, community,
critical thinking and problem solving skills to prepare and encourage them to want to learn.
