Setting the Stage
The setting for training is an important component of the information transfer. The setting establishes
the mood, the expectation and even the
curiosity of the trainees about the material to be taught.
Classroom training is a performance.
For the performance to be effective the
stage must be set for learning. In the
(OS1) process the training experience
sends a warm and caring message to
the participants. Dr. Berry refers to it as
topofilia or love of place.
Renae Walker demonstrated how to
set up the (OS1) Boot Camp training
room and props so they create a positive expectation. In this years Trainer
class new room displays were introduced including new smaller versions
of the Field Guide Training posters.
The posters are designed to extend the
(OS1) Training Room displays into remote facility areas. The smaller posters
allow the Rule of 5 to 7 training to take
place throughout multiple facilities.
Boot Camp display tables were also
set up to show how multiple hands-on
training props can be first on display
and then easily available for distriibution during hands-on training.
