ThemostappealingartmovementtomewasSurrealismbecausewehadtotake
somethingrealandmakeitunrealisticwiththebuildings.Thecharacteristicsyouneedinorder
forthepaintingtobeasurrealistpaintingwouldneedstoemphasisonmystery,mythology,
irritationtomakeaneffortontomaketheartlookstrange.Italsoneedstoexpressanyfeelings
youhaveforexample,anger,fear,etc.Furthermore,thereshouldbeavanishingpointstoo,soit
couldbeineither1,2,or3pointperspective.Somefamousartistwhomadepaintingon
surrealismisSalvadorDali,LeonoraCarrington,ManRay,andmanymore.Finally,myoverall
favoriteartworkinthismovementisSalvadorDalis,thedrippingclocks.

Another,appealingartmovementtomewasFavismbecausewehadtodrawananimal(I
didadog)andpaintitafterusingcontrastingcolors.Somebasiccharacteristicsyouneedto
knowaboutfavismistohavecolor,simplifiedforms,andordinarysubjectmatters.Additionally,

likeanypaintingitneedstoexpressyourfeelings,soyouneedtomakesureyouremotionsstand
outinyourpaintingandyoushowpassion.Somewellknownartistswhocreatedpaintingsusing
themovementoffauvismisBenBenn,GeorgesBraque,andAndreDerain.Myfavoritepainting
istheBigBeninLondonpaintingbyAndreDerain.ThisismyfavoriteartworkbecauseIlike
howhispaintinglooksdifferentfromalltheothersartworkbyusingdotstocreateanobject.

OnetechniquethatIlearnedwhenwewerelearninghowtotakepicturesisthedifferent
viewsyouneedtousetomakeapicturelookbetterforourphotography.Welookedatother
studentsexamplesofdifferentviewstheyusedontheirpictureswhentheywentoutside.From
thoseexampleswelearnedhowtomakesmallerobjectsappearbiggeroncameratochangethe
scene.Inmygroup,wemadethebroomseemlargeandasifwewerehangingonthebroomlike
atreebranch.Another,formypersonalstoryIhadtocreateIwantedtotakepicturesonmy
everydaylife,soItookapictureofmydog,theflowers,andmybrothers.Ittookawhiletoget
themintherightformortodoawormseyeviewformydogbecausehekeptmoving.Taking
picturethatdontmovelikeaflowerwereeasier.Overall,IthinkIdidagoodjobtakingpictures
andusingdifferentviewstomakethepicturelookmoreinteresting.
Finally,anothertechniqueIusedwhiletakingtheArtsInMovementclasswashowto
makeobjectslookinperspectiveduringoursurrealismlesson.Theprocesstookawhilebutit
wasworthitfortheendingresults.Tomakeanythinglookinperspectiveyoufirstneedyourtwo

vanishingpointsifyouredoingatwopointperspective(mypaintingwasintwopoint).Then
usearulertomakeabuilding,andmakesureedgesofthebuildingsmeetwithyourvanishing
point.Eraseanysketchmarksandlooktoseeifyourbuildinglooksinperspective.Thento
makethingslookunrealisticyouneedtoaddobjectsthatdontbelonginyourpainting.Formy
paintingIputaguitar,mouth,stereos,skullhead,andbasicallyanythingtomakeitlooklikea
rockcity.Finally,IaddedcolorandputdarkercolorsontheobjectsIwanttostickoutbecause
mybackgroundwasalightyellow/orange.Ifeltgoodwithmyendingresultsbecauseofthe
colorblendingIusedandhoweverythinglookedinperspective.
