set up definitions on smart board.
have 4 boxes with different forest elements all ready.
Ask the questions
Who has been to a forest?
What kinds of things did you see in the forest?
(Put definitions on smart board - read with the class)
Ecosystem: is a community of living and non-living components in
relationship with each other and their environment.

Group Activity
Break the students up into 4 groups of 2
Each group will get a worksheet to fill in during this activity
4 stations each with a box of forest elements.
Students have 2 minutes at each station to decide which items go
into which category.
Closure 2
minutes
For the closing activity we will ask each group to read one of their
categories from the worksheet and we will discuss & compare with
the rest of the class to see how each group categorized their
items.
