learners know

12 student (this is the max number for Developmental Math)

6 students with a combination of accommodations. (instructor notes, recorders, test in
testing center, extra time, tutor hours, extra class time, ability to leave class often for
breaks, etc)
1 logical/Mathematical student (misplaced by bad placement test)
1 student with serious memory issues (use all notes and books for all tests)
4 visual/spatial students that need to see every Math concept in writing and shown how to
use in day to day life.
All students taking Developmental Math, took a placement test to place into this class. Those
scores are used to look at individuals areas.
Pre-test in each chapter. Sections with high scores, homework does not have to be
completed in. Saves the students time and energy if area is already understood.

Content Hawkes learning Math program offers several ways to receive content: verbally,
notes, videos and lots of practice. I also lecture first on the chapter with real world examples
to help students understand why the information is important. Accommodations allows for
students to have my notes for lecture as well. Student with logical/Mathematical can work at
own pace and finish before rest of class.
Processes Hawkes program offers many different levels of problems to reach 80% grade.
80% must be reached to on to the next section. Accommodated students can also hand in
homework if computer illiterate. Continue to work with them to figure out program.
Product Test can be taken on paper or computer for best results. It can be retaken until 80%
is reached.

(Readiness,
Interest,
Learning Profile)

Readiness: Chapter pretest taken.

Interest: Placement test taken during college admittance.
Learning profile: Interview during first week of semester by instructor.

Chapter 1 has already been completed and laid the group work for fractions chapter. Real life
examples have been discussed to help students understand why fractions are important.
Instructor lectures on fractions then allows students to work through the material a second
or more times to have a complete understanding. Students work on homework until an 80%
is met. Students have unlimited access to notes and other multimedia examples on fractions.
Hawkes program can be used in the classroom, at home and anywhere with Internet access.

The posttest has to meet 80% threshold. The pretest for the next chapter will also allow
students to show success from previous lesson. Each chapter builds on the last and students
will not succeed without the previous chapter understanding.
