Budget & Follett Order- AASL 5.1 Collections &

5.3 Funding, PSC 1.e Knowledge & Skills. In
creating a budget during 6461, I learned what it
takes to keep the books and technology up to date
and currently in a library. I learned to make
important decisions regarding how money should
be spent in order to benefit the library and those
that use it.
6461 Floorplan- PSC 3.c Help All Students
Learn, AASL 1.1 Knowledge of Learners &
Learning. In creating a floor plan, I really tried to
determine what the most successful setup would
be to maximize student learning in the library. I
tried to split the area into smaller more confined
areas so that more people can use the library and
there would be fewer distractions.
Collection Map- AASL 3.1 Efficient and Ethical
Information-Seeking Behavior, 4.4 Advocacy, 5.1
Collections. Completing a collection map was a
very beneficial task for me. I was able to
determine what our current collection lacked.
What I found was a very outdated science section,
which then led me to make space for updating that
collection in our budget. My argument for
updating was that I had determined the average
copyright date for the section was 1986.
6461 Newsletter- AASL 4.4 Advocacy, 3.4
Research and Knowledge Creation. 3.c Help All
Students Learn. For my first Newsletter, I
included ways to engage reluctant readers.
