1. A box contains 3 coins. Two coins are fair and one coin is double-headed. A
coin is selected at random and tossed.
a) Write the sample space, S and draw the tree diagram.
b) What is the possible outcomes to get a head?
c) What is the possible outcomes to get at least two head?
2. You play the following game. You flip a coin. If it comes up tails, you get 2
points and your turn ends. If it comes up heads, you get only 1 point, but
you can flip the coin again. If you flip the coin multiple times in one turn,
you add up the points. You can flip the coin at most 3 times in one turn.
What is the possible outcomes that you will get exactly 3 points in one
turn? Draw a tree diagram to visualise the different possibilities.
3. You flip 4 different coins at the same time.
a) What is the possible outcomes of getting exactly 3 heads?
b) What is the possible outcomes of getting at least 3 heads?
4. A packet contains orange and lemon sweets. Three sweets is taken from
the packet at random. What is the possible outcomes that the sweets is:
a) At most two orange sweets,
b) At least two lemon sweets?
5. A bag contains red balls and blue balls. One ball is taken at random from
the bag. A second ball is then taken out. Determine the possible outcomes
that:
a) Both balls are red
b) Both balls are the same colour
c) The two balls are different colours
6. 7 cards are each marked with a different number from 1 to 7, then place
face down on a table. One card is selected at random and not replaced. A
second card is then taken at random. Determine the possible outcomes
that:
a) Both cards have odd numbers on them
b) Both cards have even numbers on them
c) One card has an odd number on it
