B. Applying for a job
Find out the difference between Freelance, permanent and casual work within your chosen sector
Freelance is when you are self-employed and you work for a variety of companies creating specific
assignments. You never work for just one company and you find yourself work. Permanent employees
work directly under an employer who pays them directly. As well as receiving their wages, they can also
receive benefits such as health care, paid holidays and help when planning a retirement plan. Casual is
different to both freelance and permanent work as they are often paid more due to the fact they are
working less hours. As they arent entitled t paid annual leave or sick days, and also other benefits, they
get paid more to compensate for this factor.

C. Where can you apply for media based jobs? Look at careers fairs / newspapers / trade magazine.
Make a list of these locations / print screen them and add them to your weebly page
http://www.mediaweekjobs.co.uk/?CMP=KNC-GOOGLE&gclid=CPmpxYDlpcYCFYoBwwodsCQABg
Websites such as MediaWeekJobs enable you to search for jobs in all aspects of the media, and
new jobs are advertised weekly. You are able to be specific and look for certain jobs with certain
hours and pay. Career fairs give people the chance to browse around and talk to people who are

already in the media industry, they are able to give you tips and ideas on ways to get into the
media industry.
