Silver Rose and

Our Lady of Guadalupe
The Knights of Columbus of Georgia is participating in a
North American effort paying special tribute to Our Lady of
Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas through the Our Lady
of Guadalupe Silver Rose Run - One Life, One Rose
program. It involves running three Silver Roses from Ontario
through the U.S. to Monterrey, Mexico.
The Rose will travel to St. Joseph Catholic Church on
July 10th with a short program of Veneration and
Marian Prayer beginning at 6:00 PM. All are invited.

EL SEOR DE LA VIDA
En este empo tan
fecundo del ao nuestras lecturas dominicales rebosan con vida y
abundancia. Tanto la
primera lectura, del
libro de la Sabidura, como la tercera del Evangelio de san Marcos nos aseguran que Dios no
cre la muerte, ni quiere que suframos de ninguna enfermedad. Fue por la envidia del diablo
que la muerte entr al mundo, segn nos dice
el Sabio. Y lo que san Marcos nos cuenta sobre
la curacin de la hemorroisa y cmo revivi la
hija de Jairo nos muestran claramente que Jess viene de Dios. Como Hijo de Dios, Jess no
quiere que nadie sufra enfermedad ni muerte.
Pero en el contexto de tanto poder, la segunda
lectura, de la segunda carta de san Pablo a los
corin os, nos presenta un fuerte contraste.
Jess, que puede levantar a los muertos a una
nueva vida, siendo rico se hizo pobre por ustedes (2 Corin os 8:9). As pues, la nueva vida
que recibimos como regalo de Cristo exige una

Las lecturas y su mensaje
Sab 1:13-15; 2:23-24
Dios no causa ni quiere el mal ni la destruccin. Al crear el
cielo y la erra, la muerte no entraba en sus planes o intenciones. La muerte es consecuencia de la presencia del
maligno que entr en el corazn humano. Es el primer
pecado de Adn, y el segundo de Can, los que conirman la
presencia del mal en el mundo.
2 Cor 8:7-9, 13-15
Las preposiciones hyper (por) e hina (para) remiten a la
obra salvica. La muerte de Cristo, su mxima pobreza,
tuvo un sen do mirando a nuestro bien. El extremo de
generosidad de Jess debe ser el paradigm de toda ac tud
gratuita, generosa y solidaria donde se juegue de una u
otra manera la suerte de los hermanos.
Mc 5:21-24, 35-43
Jairo era un judo importante, jefe de la sinagoga. Jairo cree
en el poder de Jess. Cuando ste dice que la nia no est
muerta, hay un inicio de burla, seguido de sorpresa. Jess
ene poder para dar vida, y lo airma pidiendo que le den a
la nia algo de comer.

marcas de la cultura hispana. En general, los hispanos se conmueven mucho ante casos de necesidad y siempre entran en accion para responder.

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE
Muchos hispanos que vivimos en Estados Unidos somos personas bilinges. Podemos leer la Palabra de Dios en ingls o espaol. Por ejemplo, el texto de Juan 21:15-19, en el que Jess le pregunta a Pedro si lo ama. El texto en ingls nos dice que Jess le
pregunta tres veces: Peter, do you love me? Pedro le responde:
Lord, you know that I love you, mientras que en espaol le dice:
Seor, t sabes que te quiero.
La diferencia es casi impercep ble, pero importante. El texto
original fue escrito en griego y usaba dos palabras que significan
amor, gape (amor que se sacrifica) y fileo (amor fraterno). En
ingls, Jess y Pedro usan la misma palabra, love, mientras en espaol Jess dos veces pregunta por amor, y Pedro responde con
querer. La tercera vez, Jess se acopla a Pedro y slo pregunta
en torno al querer, reconociendo que en ese momento, Pedro
no puede darle ms que eso. Jess le asegura que algn da Pedro
sera capaz del amor gape entregando su vida por l. Jess se
acopla a nosotros pidiendo lo que le podemos dar y ayudndonos

a crecer hasta que podamos darle toda nuestra vida.

heal his daughter and how Jesus then answered his prayer. In
prayer we also come to know that we are loved by God, and in

all those who are suering.

Registra on for Parish and School

REGISTER We are very glad you are here at
St. Peter Claver. If you would like to make St. Peter
Claver your home Parish, please complete a Parish
Census Form (available in the parish oce and
ves bule in back of the church) and either mail or
place in oertory basket at Mass. Persons wishing to
transfer membership from another Catholic parish are
also asked to complete a census form.

REGISTER FOR ST. PETER CLAVER SCHOOL Our

school accommodates children from K3 through 8th
grade. If you would like to register your child in our
school, please call (478) 743-3985.

SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE Diocesan regula ons

require that you meet with the priest at least
4 months prior to wedding date. Please contact the
parish oce at 743-1454.

SACRAMENT OF PENANCE 4:30 to 5:00 p.m.

Saturdays or by appointment.
HOLY ORDERS Any man who thinks God might be
calling him to be a priest should contact Father Dan at
743-1454.

issued to Parish members that u lized their
envelopes during 2014. If you are a
member, and would like to start u lizing
Oertory envelopes, or if you are not a
member and would like to join our Parish,
