Assignment For Circuit Theory-1 Lab 2010

Introduction:

This project is a lab assignment project. We adopted Dual Power Supply as project
as its circuit explains all basic applications of the circuit analysis.

The circuit analysis is part of our course (Circuit Theory-1) and our motto is to be
familiar with and learn each and every practical aspect of the elements involve in
this course.

Our group members are highly motivated and are eager for the day this project is
completed.

The power supply itself is a simple one, we studied the schematic from a website
and then refurnished it for our use. The basic placement of resistors and diode do
the magic of converting AC High voltage (220) to DC Low voltage (15 Volt, 3 amp)
with minimum losses. The schematic and its explanation are later in this report.

Explanation:

The Above schematic is the PCB layout of the power supply, the spaces show the
places where components such as transformer, diode bridge, resistors, capacitors,
LED, IC and potentiometers.

The Potentiometer will vary the resistance resulting in the variation of voltage
consequently power.

The center tape transformer is used to step down the voltage where as the center
tape modify the current polarity.

Diode bridge is the major component which is converting AC power to DC.

LED shows that the DC output is obtained.

The “joint” and “solds” are reduced by the use of PCB board which makes the power
supply efficient and portable for use.

Conclusion:

As Thomas Eddison said:

“I will never say that I failed a thousand times, I will say that I discovered,
there are thousand ways that can cause failure”

With this approach we have tried our best to develop the DUAL POWER SUPPLY with
such efficiency that can charge a 12 volt battery
