This!week!has!been!a!busy!one!with!interviews!on!Wednesday!and!Thursday!nights.!
Hopefully!you!have!managed!to!view!your!childrens!report!online!and!have!followed!this!
up!with!an!interview.!A!big!thank!you!must!go!out!to!the!wonderful!group!of!PTA!
members!who!supplied!our!teachers!with!some!much!needed!sustenance!in!the!form!of!
delicious!cakes,!biscuits,!bread!and!soups!!very!much!appreciated!indeed.!
!

On!Monday!I!got!the!privilege!of!seeing!some!of!our!ESOL!students!
perform!in!a!play.!The!students!involved!were!absolutely!amazing!
from!their!costumes!and!makeup!to!the!superb!way!in!which!they!
delivered!their!lines.!The!play!was!based!on!the!book!Shopping!with!a!
Crocodile!by!Margaret!Mahy.!The!students!
collaboratively!produced!a!script!that!enabled!
them!to!produce!their!narrated!play.!I!could!tell!a!
lot!of!hard!work!had!gone!into!this!as!it!was!just!
so!polished.!A!big!thank!you!must!go!out!to!their!
teacher,!Maree!Hunter,!who!should!be!very!proud!of!where!she!has!
taken!these!students.!Check!out!the!photos!of!Nisha,!Aisha,!
Nethasa,!Jashanpreet,!Arozo!and!Vianca.!

This!term,!as!they!all!seem!to!do,!has!just!flown!by.!The!students!
have!been!amazing!by!continuing!to!live!our!school!values!both!at!school!and!when!on!
trips!and!Im!sure!at!home!as!well!!On!behalf!of!Ginnie!and!Claire!I!would!like!to!thank!all!
our!staff!for!the!great!job!they!have!been!doing!this!term.!We!really!do!have!such!a!
hardworking!and!dedicated!team.!!

Out!of!School!Achievements!
Tayla!Eagle!R18!competed!at!the!Christchurch!Competition!Society!
Festival!of!the!Arts.!!She!won!the!Under!9!years!fling!championship.!
She!also!won!the!under!14!special!section!comprising!of!3!dancers!
and!took!out!numerous!2nd!and!3rd's.!

and!team!awards.!!This!fun!skiing!event!consists!of!dual!slalom!course!for!boys!and!girls!
of!all!age!groups!from!Year!1!to!Year!8.!No!previous!skiiracing!experience!is!necessary,!
merely!sufficient!skill!to!ride!a!Tibar!ski!lift!and!ski!groomed,!easy!slopes.!Participating!
children!receive!a!lift!pass!with!their!race!registration.!!One!discount!voucher!will!be!
provided!per!child,!for!a!parent!or!supervising!adult.!Primary!school!student!entry!fee!is!

Many!St!Albans!children!choose!to!take!part!in!these!annual!competitions.!They!are!
organized!through!the!University!of!New!South!Wales.!Children!from!Australasia!and!the!

We!are!excited!to!be!hosting!the!launch!of!a!brand!new!resource!to!
help!Canterbury!schools!and!families!support!children!with!anxiety!as!
we!recover!from!the!earthquakes.!!The!Worry!Bug!Project!has!been!
created!by!clinical!psychologist!Julie!BurgessiManning!and!teacher!
Sarina!Dixon.!!It!consists!of!two!books!!one!for!use!in!the!classroom!
