Exercise 6.1 Creating a Faceplate for the Agitator

6.1.1 Description
Create a faceplate for the Agitator object type created earlier. Configure buttons for
Man/Auto mode and Start/Stop commands and display the status.
Create a faceplate element in order to display mixer current, speed setpoint and trip.

6.1.2 Legend

6.1.3 Exercise Steps


6.1.3.1 Create the Faceplate

Exercise 6.1 - 2

Create a Faceplate PG2 aspect on the Agitator object type in the Object Type
Structure, and name it Main Faceplate.

Define the layout for the faceplate such that the Reduced and Extended views are
disabled and make one row for faceplate button.

6.1.3.2 Configure Buttons and Indicators

Configure buttons for Auto, Manual, Manual Start, and Manual Stop.

Enable the buttons to be only visible under the following conditions:


- ManStop = if in Manual mode and mixer running
- ManStart = if in Manual mode and mixer not running
- AutoMode = if in Manual mode
- ManMode = if in Auto mode

Configure an indicator showing whether the Agitator object type in Manual or Auto
mode. Also configure indicators for the ON and OFF running indications.

Call up the faceplate on Sxx_M1 and check the functionality.

6.1.3.3 Define a Faceplate Element

Create a Faceplate Element aspect and name it Faceplate Element


- add an Input Field and connect it to the Setpoint
- add an Input Bar and connect them to the mixer current

Configure the Main Faceplate aspect to show the Faceplate Indications element.

6.1.3.4 Check the Operation

Set the faceplate as the default aspect.

Call up the faceplate.

Start and stop the motor by pressing the Start / Stop buttons.

Change the speed setpoint

Change to Auto mode and start the Batch sequence
