environment while providing multiple

learning opportunities for children. The

Gold Assessment is aligned with our
curriculum and allows for each child to
be individually assessed while considering their own skills and abilities. The
assessment system follows the child as
they move through the early childhood
classes at the Edgerton Public School.
This allows for teachers and parents to
track the progress of a child for multiple
years.

Handwriting Without
Tears
Handwriting Without Tears is another
curriculum our preschool programs implement. This curriculum teaches a wide
variety of skills including: readiness,
writing, language, literacy, numbers, and
math. These concepts are taught by
singing, playing, coloring, and building.
Handwriting Without Tears is another
play based curriculum that offers children the opportunity to learn while playing.

Edgerton Early Childhood Programs

Our Mission
The mission of the Early Childhood Education programs at the Edgerton Public School is to provide children
with opportunities to learn new concepts and skills in a play based environment.

Programs
The Edgerton Public School offers
appropriate programs and classes for
your child. These programs include:

3 Year Old School Readiness

4 Year Old School Readiness

Early Childhood Family Education

Early Childhood Special Education

School Readiness
We offer preschool programs for children between the ages of 3 and 5. We
have small classes which consist of no
more than twenty students per class in
order to provide children with individualized learning. The district also provides families with the option of applying to have fees waived or reduced for
your childs tuition. During class sessions, children will explore their environment through play based curriculums.

Early Childhood
Family Education
Early childhood family education (ECFE) is a program offered to parents and children. During this
class time, parents are able to attend school with
their child. Families are able to participate in several
activities together. Parents are given the opportunity
to network with each other during a parenting class.
Parents are able to discuss concerns and learn new
skills during this time.

Early Childhood Special

Education
The Edgerton Public School offers early childhood
special education (ECSE). Children between the
ages of birth-6 can receive special education services
if necessary. If you have questions about your
childs development, call the Edgerton Public
School.

Play Based Learning

A large portion of the preschool day consists of
play/learning time. During this time, children are
allowed to explore their environment by playing with
manipulatives
and learning
materials. It is a
childs natural
response to
play. When
given adequate

time to explore, children are improving

skills in the areas of: language, social/
emotional, physical, cognitive, literacy,
math, science, technology, social studies, and art.

Creative Curriculum
and Gold Assessment
Our preschool and early childhood special education programs have recently
purchased the Creative Curriculum and
Gold Assessment Tools. The Creative
Curriculum consists of a play based
curriculum with an authentic assessment
system.
