Dyers book provides a thorough examination of two hundred year span of the Universitys
history. The author discusses relevant architecture, education initiatives, and student culture
categorized by decade. The book also includes a number of relevant photographs.

This article describes the March for Coed Equality, a three day sit-in by students at the
University of Georgia in 1968, organized by radical student group, Students for a Democratic
Society (SDS). Huff develops the background of the march, supported by the SDS and uses
primary interviews with alumni of the University involved in the march to describe the emotions
of the event.

A Step Forward for Womens Rights is an article in the student newspaper at the University of
Georgia, written about the evolution of womens rights at the school from the decade of the
sixties to present. Kross interviews several women who were students at the University during
the sixties about their personal experience with the fight for womens equality at UGA.

Goin Back: Remembering UGA is an oral living history project jointly produced by the UGA
Office of Public Affairs and the UGA Alumni Association. Dr. McBee served as the Dean of
Women at the University of Georgia from 1963 to 1968. Her interview covers her time as the
Dean of Women as well as her experience serving under four different Presidents of the
University of Georgia.

Reap draws on a close study of local government documents, as well as his own research with
the Athens Historical Society to create an anthology of modern history in Athens, Georgia. His
research about the city of Athens discusses important events at the University of Georgia since
the University is so closely tied with the city itself.

The Students for a Democratic Society in the sixties were considered a radical, liberal group with
on campus chapters across the United States. At the University of Georgia, the participation of
the group ranged between 15 to 75 members throughout the decade. Despite the small
participation in comparison to the University population as a whole, the SDS was cited with
backing both the Vietnam protest in 1970 and the 1968 March for Coed Equality.

Turners book details certain student movements in the South to develop the nature of activism in
the region during the turbulent 1960s. His research covers well known student movements in
Atlanta as well as lesser known, smaller movements that took place in more rural areas. His
knowledge about the decade of the sixties is extensive, and is based of primary and secondary
documentation.

The Pandora is the Universitys annual yearbook documenting the lives and activities of students
at the University of Georgia. The yearbook has cartoons drawn by students, and photographs
detailing the events of students both on and off campus that occurred through the 1967-1968
academic year.

In this WSB newsfilm clip from June 2, 1968 reporter Joel Abrams interviews students
protesting the suspension and probation of George Langworth and David Simpson, student
leaders of an April demonstration for the rights of female students at the University of Georgia,
Athens, Georgia. On April 10, 1968 several hundred students participated in a demonstration at
the University of Georgia administration building asking for equal rights for women students on
campus. In the clip, reporter Joel Abrams interviews students about the April 10th arrest and

suspension of two University of Georgia students, George Langworth and David Simpson, the
two student leaders of the March for Coed Equality.
