GENERAL NOTE: The values shown are base on a Target Presiess of 345 MPa (oot are}. See para. 12 (Target Torque. The root areas
‘are base! on coarse-thvenl series or sles M27 ad smal, and 3 tem pitch thread seis for sizes MO ar args.
NoTEs:
0) Computed values are based on “working” surfaces that comply with para, 4 (Examination of Working” Surfaces) al para. 7 (Lubrication
fof “Washing” Surfaces), ad the folowing coeicient of fction: 0116 for noncoated surfaces and 0.12 for eaw coated surfaces. These
Coaficients were selected to make the computed Target Torques consistent with thal needed fora Target Presress of 345 MPa as
independenily vee by accurate bolt elongation measuremenis by several users, (Gee Append K for equivalent nat fates)

10 TIGHTENING OF BOLTS
Using the selected tightening methoWload-control
technique (see para. 10.1), tighten the joint using
the torque increment rounds shown in Table 2 and
the cross-pattern tightening sequence as described
in para. 11
NOTE: When hycaullc Bok tensiones are employed use the
procecre recommended by personel ho are expesienced and
{aliied in controled bolting senaces. Culdelines on use of
toting services contactors ae provided in Append.
10.1 Tightening Method/Load Control Technique
Several tightening methods are available such as
hand torque, slugfhand wrench, impact wrench,
hydraulic torque, and hydraulic tensioner, Also, sev-
eral load-contiol techniques are available. Thus,
several combinations of specific joint assembly meth-
‘ods/techniques ace available for consideration. Three
such combinations that are commonly used are listed
as follows in ascending order of bolt-load control
accuracy:
(c) any tightening or tensioning meth
elongation (reich) control (eg, bolt elongation
‘measurement or hydraulic tensioning). Use of hy-
