Reflection
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology coaching and technology leadership from completing this field
experience?
As part of the Cobb Teacher Leadership Academy, I was able to have first round pick of being able to present at our annual Professional Learning Day
during pre-planning. Thus, I worked with my colleagues to brainstorm and idea, and given that my primary area of interest in Professional Learning has to
do with Instructional Technology, I chose to focus upon the use of social media for educational purposes. I learned that with technology coaching and
technology leadership, it is important to have clear communication skills. Furthermore, it is important to have skills that allow you to differentiate for all
levels of adult learners. Finally, patience is the most important skill once the others are in place.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs,
enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected above. Use the language of the PSC
standards in your answer and reflect on all 3knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)
Knowledge I realized that I must know how to use the technologies I wish to showcase. Furthermore, I must be able to use them in a manner that is
relevant for educational purposes. I must also know how to explain what I know in a variety of ways so as to not alienate those who are not as
technologically savvy.

Skills I must have clear communication skills, the ability to learn on my own, and the ability to learn on my feet. I recognized that there will be times at
which I will need to illustrate how something can or must be done to those already scared of trying something new.

Dispositions I also recognized that I must have a pleasant disposition toward all that I do. Having a positive outlook puts others at ease when showing
them new tools, and it allows for me to remember that it is all a process.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school. How can the impact be
assessed?
This field experience will empower teachers to use non-traditional technology tools to assist students in their learning process. Furthermore, with using
social media as the focus, these tools tend to be very accessible across platforms and are made to be used with smartphones. The impact on learning comes
from the fact that students will be able to access learning from wherever they are if we use such tools that provide an easy means of multi-way
communication as is the case with social media. More importantly, it allows for educators to model appropriate digital citizenship.
