ENR 1.13 - UNLAWFUL INTERFERENCE

1. An aircraft which is being subjected to unlawful interference shall endeavor to notify the appropriate
ATS unit of this fact, any significant circumstances associated therewith and any deviation from the
current flight plan necessitated by the circumstances, in order to enable the ATS unit to give priority to
the aircraft and to minimize conflict with other aircraft.

2. The pilot of a SSR equipped aircraft in flight which is subjected to unlawful interference shall endeavor
to set his transponder to code 7500 to give indication of the situation.

2.1. When a pilot has selected Mode A and code 7500 and is subsequently requested to confirm his code
by ATC he shall, according to circumstances, either confirm this or not reply at all. The absence of a
reply from the pilot will be taken by ATC as an indication that the use of code 7500 is not due to an
inadvertent false code selection.
Note 1 - Action to be taken by ATS units in situations of unlawful interference is contained in ICAO
Annex 11.
Note 2 - Guidance material for use when unlawful interference occurs and the aircraft is unable to
notify an ATS unit of this fact is contained in Attachment B to ICAO Annex 2.
Note 3 - Action to be taken by SSR equipped aircraft which is being subjected to unlawful interference
is contained in ICAO Annex 11 and the Doc 4444 PANS-ATM.
