2-Man Championship Results
After another successful 2-Man Championship tournament, our championship
flight participants Shawn Matlock and Chad Piper are this years champions. Other
flight winners include Jon Laasch and Chuck Jernigan, brothers Brock and Brandon Amaya, and Daniel Adams and Ed Young. Thank you to everyone who participated in this years event! Results from each club tournament are posted on our

Takes State
River Oaks Golf Club Member and Edmond
Memorial graduate, Jacob Prentice, proved
himself as a golf competitor at the 6A boys
state golf tournament May 11-12. Prentice
took home the title of State Champion in the
boys individual competition. The tournament
was held in Stillwater, Oklahoma at Karsten
Creek. Prentice shot rounds of 74-73-75, just
6 over par at 222 and a two-stroke victory.

Tis the season for golf and all the events that come with it. River Oaks Golf Club has
planned a summer of fun, food, and good rounds of golf with our full calendar of
events coming this month.
After 15 straight days of showers and almost 23 inches of rain for May, June is in full
bloom and the course is in wonderful shape. Our Summer is jam packed with tournaments and social events that are worth checking out!

Food Truck Festival

Save the date because the Food Trucks are back and better than before! 2 Brothers
Bistro, Tasty Js BBQ and Sugar Shack will be here Sunday, June 14th from 4:308:00 PM. There will be activities for the kids, including a moon bounce, face painting,
a Fathers Day craft table. Even Golf Pro, AJ Schultz signed up for the dunk tank! This
is one block party you dont want to miss.

Wine Tasting
Not flying to Spain anytime soon? We can make up for that. Join us Tuesday, June
16th to taste a variety of Spanish Wines and Homemade Tapas! Sommelier Carol
Cornelison will give an introduction to wine tasting, explain the basic technique to discover the aroma and flavor of each wine and tapas pairing. Tapas are all about big

We have all seen him around on the club,

River Oaks own, Jim Young claims 2015 SOUTH CENTRAL PGA METRO APPLIANCES & MORE ASSISTANT ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP.
ARDMORE, Oklahoma The 2015 South Central PGA Metro Appliances & More
Assistant Association Championship presented by YAMAHA, Columbia Sportswear, OMEGA and the PGA Tour, was contested on Monday, June 1 at the beautiful and challenging Dornick Hills Country Club. The Championship was conducted at 18 holes of individual stroke play with top assistant professionals from Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma competing for the coveted title.
After the last round was posted, Jim Young (River Oaks GC, Edmond, OK) and
Malachi Murphy (Quail Creek G&CC, Oklahoma City, OK) were tied with rounds of
71 (+1 over par). On the first hole of sudden death, both players pulled their tee
shots slightly left of the fairway. Murphy was first to play, just missing the green
left. Young followed with an approach shot that found the front of the green, some
40 feet away from the hole. Murphys third failed to find the green. Young rolled
his putt to within three feet of the hole. Murphys fourth shot came to rest just inches from the hole leaving him with a bogey five. Young rolled in his putt for par,
thus securing the victory and his second Assistant Association major of the year.

Junior Golf Camp

In 2015, Summer Junior Camps are back and better than ever!
If your junior golfer is just getting started or has played golf for a while it doesnt
matter, we want them to attend this summers Junior Camp at River Oaks Golf
Club. Camp is conducted by PGA Professional Jim Young and other members of
his staff.
Dates:
June 9th, 11th, 16th, 18th, 23rd, and 30th July 2nd, 9th, 14th, 16th, 21st and 23rd.
Times:
Pee Wee Camp (Ages 5-7): 8:30-9:15 a.m.
Junior Camp (Ages 8-12): 9:30-10:30 a.m.
After Class play with parents or fellow class mates (age appropriate) each day.
What we will cover:
Basic technique (Ready, Aim, Fire) for all types of golf shots, Safety: At and
around the course, etiquette, behavior and sportsmanship for the golf course , golf
rules, BUT MOST OF ALL: HAVING FUN ON THE GOLF COURSE BECAUSE
WE ARE HERE TO PLAY!
What is needed:
Each student should have their own golf clubs Proper golf attire is required
(collared shirt please).
Golf shoes are recommended because they are waterproof but are not required.
Punctual attendance so that no one is kept waiting.

Sunscreen & Bug Spray

You might have noticed some discoloration of the greens lately, and we have
determined that this is from the use of insect repellent and sunscreens being
sprayed on the greens, causing the grass to die. We kindly ask that during play,
please keep all use of these sprays limited to the concrete.
