Letters of recommendation, being what they are, often make it difficult to distinguish between good and
great candidates. Matthew Hession clearly falls into the latter category. I have known Matt for the past
three years, and feel confident that I can comment on his abilities accordingly.
My first experience working with Matt, was in his role as a varsity football coach at Tecumseh High
School. As I worked alongside Matt, I was immediately impressed with his passion for everything he
participated in. Along with this passion is a consistent eagerness to learn. Matt has made the most of
every opportunity available to improve at his craft. He routinely asks intuitive questions, and strived to
improve on a daily basis. Matt in turn, strives to pass his expanded knowledge onto the many young
men who have the privilege of having him as a coach.

Upon graduating from Eastern Michigan University, Matt most recently has shown his outstanding
people skills as he has worked as a one on one instructional assistant with an 8th grade student at
Tecumseh Middle School. Matt has provided behavioral interventions, academic support, and
social/emotional supports as needed. He has worked closely with a team of 8th grade teachers,
special education teachers, encore teachers, and the student's parents. He has effectively
communicated and collaborated with all parties when necessary, and has provided various
accommodations as needed. Matt has also made a point to assist with other students at TMS when the
opportunity presents itself. Matt's willingness to meet the needs of each individual student, as well as
assist in anyway possible are certainly endearing qualities for an educator, and characteristics

such as

these will ultimately makes him a superb instructor. Matt's willingness to lead or support others make
him an excellent "teammate," and an individual that any organization would be ecstatic to have.
Matthew Hession will be an asset to any school district that has the opportunity to hire him. He is a
dedicated and selfless individual who would be a welcomed addition to any building fortunate to have
him. He believes in the educational process, and that all students can learn. It is without any
reservations that I recommend Matthew Hession for any employment or position he pursues.
