KEY LEARNING FROM THE FRANKLIN COMPANY

There were a number of takeaways from the Franklin Company Case Simulation.

We got to appreciate the fact that, no matter what level

you are (VPs and President), that too in any organizational
are inevitable and there will be a number of issues that
communication
gap
between
those

of professional
scale, conflicts
will hinder the
professionals.

From Franklin Company, we saw that every department has their own
agenda and wants to play an integral part in the companys growth, but
through the simulation where OD Consultants were introduced, we realised
there has to be a win win situation across departments so that no one is
poaching each others efforts and there are always such ways out.
Everyone has a key role to part in the organization, but we must all grow
together instead of trying to be better than another department who is
also
a
part
of
the
same
mission
and
vison.
Needless to say, the communication gap is a major hindrance and every
department should make it a priority to avoid this if a consensus has to be
reached
and
rapid
action
has
to
take
place.
Sometimes we think the solution is all in the head and we think we have a
grasp on it, but only when we sit to discuss and do a lot of brainstorming
and get our ideas on paper or the board, we realise there are a lot of
loopholes and challenges process wise, feasibility wise and there can be
several challenges with the solution that we might think is perfect at that
point
of
time.
An OD Consultants contribution should be appreciated. They are trained
professionals who act as medium to get the organization to a conclusion,
by making use of several interesting methods, like the Sociogram that was
used here. The Sociogram gave a clear indication of departments that are
not in sync or are isolated via cliques, star and isolate.
We realised, sometimes having interventions from someone outside the
company (OD Consultants) can be helpful to break the ice and start a
momentum for change, since ego clashes, complacency are also inevitable
in
organizations
be
it
of
any
magnitude
