Social Studies classes will be 77 minute periods. I expect students to be prepared for class everyday.
The supplies that students will need for class include:
Homework Planner
Recommendations
Glue sticks/Scissors
2 boxes of tissues
Colored Pencils
Grading:
Grades will be calculated based on a weighted grading system. Grades will be based on
Benchmarks Assessments, Chapter tests, quizzes, and classwork.
Synergy:
Parents and students are encouraged to use parentvue and studentvue to monitor
academic success during the marking period and other school information.
Homework:
Homework WILL be given when appropriate for the lesson. Students will have Social
Studies every other day (Mon/Wed/Fri OR Tue/Thr/Fri). Homework will be collected the next
class giving them two days to complete. The Hotline number is (301) 766-8402. I know that
emergencies sometimes arise that may prevent a student from completing an assignment. Please
communicate with the teacher if an extension is necessary on late work.
National History Day Project: The NHD is for Merit students only. The NHD will begin in late
October early November. The NHD is centered on a theme that varies from year-to-year and is
considered to be extensive with a value of 200 total points.
Absences/Makeup Work:
The student will be responsible for obtaining missed assignments. These assignments
may be found in an Absent folder in the classroom. The wall will have folders labeled
pertaining to the students absence and Grade Level or Merit. The completed assignment should
be turned in on the next day of social studies or by the close of the week. If you need help with
the missed assignment, you may arrange to stay after school or during lunch and I will be happy
to help explain the lesson.
Sincerely,
Mr. Brad Delauter
