I conducted the same processing disorder assessments for two students. These
assessments were part of initial evaluations. The assessments included The Beery-Buktenica
Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration-Fifth Edition (VMI-5th), Test of Auditory
Processing Skills Third Edition (TAPS-3), and the Test of Visual Perceptual Skills 3rd Edition
(TVPS-3). One student was a nine year old fourth grader while the other student was an 11 year
old sixth grader. The nine year old female received a standard score of 114 on the VMI, which
placed her in the 82nd percentile and in the above average range. On the TAPS-3 she received an
overall standard score of 121, which placed her in the 91st percentile and in the superior range.
Her phonologic processing standard score was 110, which placed her in the 75th percentile and in
the average range. Her memory processing standard score was 128, which placed her in the 97th
percentile and in the superior range. Her cohesion processing standard score was 123, which
placed her in the 93rd percentile and in the superior range. These results indicated that the
student did not have a processing disorder.
The second student was the 11 year old sixth grade male. He received a standard score of
111 on the VMI, which placed him in the 77th percentile and in the average range. On the TAPS-3
he received an overall standard score of 116, which placed him in the 85th percentile and in the
above average range. His phonologic processing standard score was 116, which placed him in
the 85th percentile and in the above average range. His memory processing standard score was
118, which placed him in the 88th percentile and in the above range. His cohesion processing
standard score was 115, which placed him in the 84th percentile and in the above average range.
These results indicated that the student did not have a processing disorder. These results
indicated that the student did not have a processing disorder.
