ITS 100TH ISSUE

PASSION, INTEGRITY & APNAPAN

Dear All,
It is officially our 100th issue and who would have thought that a small initiative that started with
CHOGM 2011 will go such a long way. Every issue is currently circulated to 300+ subscribers as well as
more than 4700 readers have read the electronic version available on web.
We are grateful to all the patrons who have provided feedback and comments during last 200 weeks
and hope to continue with the same. Thanks to all of you have contributed the news items for the issue.

EID AND 69th INDEPENDENCE DAY HAND IN HAND


Planning is going ahead for the event on 8th August and if you have not purchased tickets as yet you can
do so electronically at http://www.trybooking.com/IHGJ
We are waiting for the confirmation from Hon. Liza Harvey, Minster for Women Interests and Hon. Liz
Behjet so the program can be finalised which should be available on Wednesday morning.
We do expect guests to arrive at 6.30 pm for a 7.00 pm start. The dinner will be served at 7.30 followed
by Lollywood performance of Jhoom Group. Dessert would be served after the performance.

Last week we launched the quiz to coincide with the Hepatitis Awareness Week and as part of a grant
received from Hepatitis WA. In all 43 responses were received of which fifteen respondents were
randomly selected to receive the free tickets to our event on 8th August.

PREPARING FOR EIDUL AZHA


Another collaborative activity that we are involved with is Eid event which will be held on 11th October
Insha Allah which is funded by the Office of Multicultural Interests.

COLLABORATIVE COMMUNITIES NETWORK


We are delighted to be part of a new collaborative network to support underserved communities. The
first event to raise funds for the earthquake relief activities was held on Saturday the 1st August led by the
Filipino Australian Multicultural Association. Hon. Liz Behjet represented the Minister for Multicultural
Interests Hon. Mike Nahan.

MEANWHILE IN CANBERRA
BOKSI( THE WITCH) : NEPAL EARTHQUAKE FUNDRAISER FILM SCREENING
The Australian Nepalese Friendship Society Inc. and the Nepalese community of the Canberra region
present a fundraising screening.
Based on the popular book of Balkrishna Sama, the 'Shakespeare of Nepal.'
When: 6.30pm, Friday 14 August 2015
Where: NFSA Theatrette, National Film & Sound Archive, McCoy Circuit, Acton, ACT 2601

The film is based on a conservative Boksi (witch) thoughts in Nepalese community and
psychological impact on children and it's consequences on the society. The film Boksi( The witch )
has been awarded as the special film by the Nepal Film Development Board and best film in
Chhayachhabi D cinema Award.
There are English subtitles and non Nepali friends would also enjoy it. Keep 14th August free and
please come support us as proceeds will go to rebuild earthquake affected rural School in Nepal.
100% of the profit from the screening will be contributed to rebuild earthquake affected school in
remote rural Nepal.
