Q1. The gross command area of Lower Jhelum Canal is 0.5 million
hectare and in this 25,000 ha is unculturable. Two crops i.e. wheat
and rice is grown over 0.3 and 0.25 million hectares. Duty of Kharif
crop is 3500 ha/cumec and that of Rabi is 4200 ha/cumec. The over
conveyance losses of canal system is 20 %. Compute designed
discharge of this canal and cropping intensity in this area for various
seasons.
Q2. Compute the head discharge of a canal from the following
information provided by irrigation department of Sindh at Kotri
Barrage. The value of time factor may be assumed as 0.75.
