Outcome #5

Health Care Environment entails advocating for health care across continuum of
health care environments. Advocating for the health environment does not only include
patient care, but the working conditions and staffing. When advocating for the health care
environment we can implement change and improve the health care environment to
promote quality and safety.
In this section I chose to include a Self Assessment Reasoning pieces and a
Windshield Survey of my community. I chose the self assessment assignment, because in
order to advocate for the health care environment I needed to know what I was looking
for in health care. I also needed to know how I contributed to the health care
environment. The other piece Windshield Survey entailed a glimpse into my
community, and how I viewed the environment in which I lived. After the Windshield
Survey I realized how affected my community was by low literacy levels, low
socioeconomical status, and how the condition of environment it self can impact the
health care environment.
I was able to meet this outcome by acknowledging how the condition of the
environment it self impacts the health care environment. Advocating for better working
conditions and educated staff improves the health care environment, patient outcomes,
sustainability of community programs.
