Mahere Ako Digital Technologies Tau 10


A range of strands are integrated into Y10 ICT course. Students should have basic math calculation knowledge and
skills, eg percentage, sum, average, etc skills, prior the class. The course is taught in conjunction with Te
Marautanga level 5, 6.
All students will learn about the more advanced skills, macro, mail merge etc., in Publish, Word, Database and
Spreadsheet and other new application like web expression, Inscape. Students will be able to work independently
according to the provided briefs and demonstrate the ability to put up a simple plan and steps. Students also start
learning logic sequence by Programming in a program tool Alice or even in Visual Studio 2005.
There are no NCEA assessments in Year 10

The content of the pngarau curriculum is arranged into three strands: Number and Algebra; Measurement and Geometry; and Statistics, from
Levels One to Six. These reduce to two strands at Levels Seven and Eight: Algebra, Calculus and Statistics.

Pangarau Literacy
Students will exchange ideas and communicate using both written and oral language, symbols and other types of pngarau representations.
Pngarau literacy is important in order for students to learn the content contained in the achievement objectives, and also in strengthening
their logical and critical thinking, their reasoning skills and creativity appropriate for this level.
Using Pangarau
Students will understand and explore the many uses of pngarau relevant to the communities in which they live. The achievement objectives
should be taught within contexts arising from the community.
