Matters: Final Assessment Guidelines



! Submission must incorporate one or many class themes:

" Place / Setting
" Character
" Persuasion
" Self

! Suggested length:

" 5 pages (12-point font; double-spacing) this applies to short stories, non-
fiction essays, and other forms.
" For shorter poetry proposals, make sure to plan out Form & Structure,
Rhythm & Meter, and other elements with teacher in advance.

! Timeline:

" DRAFT: Submit full or partial draft by Monday, August 10 before class.
# Print the draft or email to writingmatterspu2015@gmail.com
# Students will start workshopping their writing together on this day.
" FINAL: Submit final draft by Wednesday, August 12 before class.
# Writing will be assessed based on level of creativity and use of class
concepts; however, also make sure to fully edit for spelling, grammar,
and other fundamental elements.
